BOWDOIN, MAINE: Robert Card, the suspect for the year’s deadliest mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, reportedly left a suicide note at his home in Bowdoin, per the police.

While the 40-year-old deer hunter and Army reservist is still at large, a section of the internet believes he might be dead after the note discovered from his home was reported to be a suicide note addressed to his son, as per ABC News.

Where is Robert Card now?

According to former Florida police sergeant and SWAT member Marko Galbreath, Card can be anywhere and everyone needs to be alert.

After he allegedly carried out two deadly mass shootings at the Just in Time bowling alley and Schemengee's bar in Lewiston on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Card was announced as the person of interest by the police on the same evening.

The suspect’s open gunfire killed at least 18 people and injured another 13, as per Daily Mail.

At around 10 pm on Wednesday, police found the suspect’s abandoned car near a boat deck in Lisbon, seven miles from Lewiston. Police are also suspecting that he might have fled on a Jet Ski.

He was last seen on the same day fleeing the second shooting location.

Galbreath told the Daily Mail, “He could still be in that area, planning to have a shootout with police, planning to commit suicide, planning to commit another attack. Or, you know what, he could be in Texas right now. We have no idea.”

He added, “If he planned it out well enough, he could very well be far from that area right now,” before continuing, “We need to tell the entire country that until this guy is captured, we need to use due diligence.”

Galbreath added, “He could have shaved, he could have put on a wig, he may change his appearance. He he may not look like what people think he looks like, so we need to really watch.”

At around 7 pm EDT on Thursday, police lined his home at Bowdoin with a large convoy.

They were heard shouting through a megaphone, "Robert Card, you're under arrest. Come out now.”

They continued, "Drop everything and come outside...If anyone is in the residence, walk outside and walk to the front of the driveway.”

In a statement, Maine State Police spokeswoman Shannon Moss said, “The announcements that are being heard over a loudspeaker are standard search warrant announcements when executing a warrant to ensure the safety of all involved.”

"It is unknown whether Robert Card is in any of the homes law enforcement will search,” added Moss.

She continued, “Law enforcement officials are simply doing their due diligence by tracking down every lead in an effort to locate and apprehend Card.”

'I seriously doubt that he is still alive'

While the police are participating in one of the most stringent manhunts of this year, netizens have also started internet sleuthing. Among the netizens, the theory of Robert Card being dead has also garnered traction.

Some social media users believe that Card may have died after it emerged that a suicide note was discovered in the suspect's Bowdoin home.

One of the social media users said, "It has been reported that Robert Card left a suicide note at home for his son to read. I seriously doubt that he is still alive."

Someone else echoed, "I agree. He went to a pre planned secluded place, maybe by boat, and killed himself. I feel bad for the son. First I have heard he had one."

Someone else quipped, "He was running around with his face on full display and not wearing protective gear.. he didn’t plan on living."

Another person chimed in, "I honestly thought this from the start. Most mass shooters take their own lives right?"

However, another social media user said, "Feels more like he is trying to convince everyone he’s dead. It’s so hard to tell after so much training."
