There has been a lot of speculation about the Madonna biopic and who will be cast in it. However, it appears that we have some insight into this. According to sources close to the Queen of Pop's forthcoming biography, Julia Garner has been given the lead part in the film, which will chronicle the pop icon from her early days in New York City through her 1990 mega song Vogue.

According to Variety, Garner has emerged as the favorite among over a dozen hopefuls, and has been reported as a frontrunner for the role for months in a performance that Madonna would direct herself. Garner's team is contemplating and is anticipated to accept the offer. Julia Garner, well known for her roles as Ruth Langmore in Ozark and Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna, might play Madonna in her upcoming biopic. The 28-year-old actress was reportedly offered the part of the pop legend following a long audition procedure that required 'a skilled singer and dancer.'

Garner allegedly beat out Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, Bebe Rexha, and Sky Ferreira. Another prominent contender for the main part was British actress Pugh, 26, and one industry source suspected that Pugh's management had purposefully publicized her position in the Dune sequel in order to tempt Madonna into offering it to her.

Insiders disclosed information about the audition process in March of this year, as the hunt for the woman who would play the Queen of Pop lasted months. Sources have revealed that auditions may occasionally include 11-hour choreography sessions with Madonna's choreographer, followed by a choreography session with the real Material Girl singer. Actresses apparently completed readings and singing auditions with Madonna herself before callbacks. The actress will have to perform singing and dance routines in the film, and whoever wins the role will have to go through a month of intensive training in preparation for production.

The movie, which is now under development, will be distributed by Universal. The studio has not yet given the film the green light, as is customary that a final script, budget, and cast be finalized. 'A major factor is ultimately who will be cast' as Madonna a source said. However, if Garner accepts the post, it may expedite the process.
