'Bachelor in Paradise' 2022: 'Hurricane Lace' hits beach while Rodney is on date with Eliza, fans call producers 'soulless'
VALLARTA, MEXICO: Lace Morris was upset when she returned to the 'Bachelor in Paradise' beach and saw Rodney Mathews had gone on a date with Eliza Isichei. Fans criticize the producers for humiliating Lace and subjecting her to such mayhem.
Rodney Mathews accepted Lace Morris' rose at the second rose ceremony of 'Bachelor in Paradise,' but the couple's plan was disrupted by a split week. While Lace and the other ladies were relocated, Rodney and the boys returned to the beach with five new women. Rodney felt an instant connection with Eliza Isichei. Rodney said, "Eliza and I are really connecting."

Rodney further adds: "She has the aspects that I’m looking for in a future partner, in a wife. This is really exciting for me. When I started here, Lace and I were vibing and connecting, and now that Eliza’s here, it’s tough for me this week to be caught in between two amazing people. I have a lot to figure out."
Meanwhile, Lace sulked in bed, sobbing, wondering what Rodney was up to. Serene Russell and Victoria Fuller encouraged Lace to put herself out there and see if there was another connection for her when five new males came to the ladies' hotel. "I think Lace should go on a date because I think Rodney would go on a date," Serene suggested. "But accepting that is really hard."
Rodney did, in fact, receive a date card and invited Eliza to accompany him. "Rodney makes me feel really good,” Eliza gushed. “He makes me feel really special. I really, really like him and I think those feelings are reciprocated. I think we really are a great fit. It feels so organic. It feels really, really effortless. I’m excited about seeing where this could all go."
The two had a lovely dinner with provocative banter and made out. "I’m actually looking for love. This is where I’m meant to be at this point in time," Rodney said to Eliza. "My goal is to leave here in a relationship and leave here with a special woman I know I could bring home to my mom, my family, my friends. I have this feeling ever since you walked in that I could really actually be successful in this experience and find someone to really change and enhance my life." Eliza echoed same sentiments, saying, "I came into this, not with low expectations, but with no expectations. I wanted to come in, be open and have an open mind, and see what happens. Of course, it’s day two and I’m already like…it can happen. It’s possible. It’s happening."
Back at the hotel, Lace was still sobbing, and she couldn't take it any longer to be in the dark about what Rodney was doing. She remarked, "being so unsure is really starting to take a toll on me. I’m lucky I found Rodney. He’s just over there, laughing and having a good time. Is he even thinking about me? Why am I crying about someone who possibly isn’t crying about me? I’m so anxious because I’m afraid he made a stronger connection and I’m over here miserable. It’s time that I go back to Rodney and see if we are on the same page. I need to let him know how I feel about him. I really, really want to pursue this and take it seriously, and move forward, but I currently do not know if he feels the same way. I’m really nervous. Being alone without him…I can’t do that. I will go insane."
Lace decided to return to the shore and see what was going on. Of course, she was disappointed to learn that Rodney was on a date with someone else. Lace tried to gather answers from the other guys about how Rodney was feeling, but they weren't too forthcoming. Finally, Rodney and Eliza returned...holding hands. Rodney invited Lace away to chat, but the outcome of their meeting won't be revealed until next week's show.
Seeing Lace hit the beach, fans quipped: "Brandon is not prepared for Hurricane Lace #bachelorinparadise." Some also felt it probably wasn't the best of decision from her: "Oh no Lace baby what is you doin #bachelorinparadise." Summarazing the situation on the beach, one fan commented: "the guys trying to talk to Lace while also trying to not throw Rodney under the bus #BachelorInParadise." One fan questioned if their connection was strong enough to begin with: "I just don’t know why Jill and Lace are being so close minded to new men. Hello ladies your anxiety is correct! The connection you had isn’t strong. #BachelorInParadise."

However, a slew of fans felt bad about the situation, and slammed the makers for putting Lace in such a position: "I do not care about how Lace is acting. This is ALL on the producers. They are truly evil and soulless. #bachelorinparadise." Accusing them of humiliating Lace, another fan wrote: "The producers are dead wrong for stirring this drama. They really brought Lace back to the beach just to hurt and humiliate her. That’s so mean. #bachelorinparadise." Some fans even felt uncomfortable for having to sit through such drama: "production committed so hard to humiliating lace in a way that actually is uncomfortable to watch and feels cruel. i don’t find this fun or good television #bachelorinparadise." Another fan while rooting for her, wrote: "i went from not liking lace to low key hoping she sets the whole island on fire #BachelorInParadise."
