It looks like Netflix is gearing up for Halloween season now. Adam Sandler is returning to the streaming site this October in a never-before-seen avatar. Starring in the role of Hubie Dubois, the actor is bringing a terrifying but true-to-his-character hilarious tale this Halloween season. But for it's not in the least what you think.

In the trailer for the movie, Maya Rudolph's character says about Hubie, "It's pretty impressive how long he's been a loser". Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike.

What they don't know is that this year, things are going to be a lot different and scarier. And the only one who can make a difference is the clown of the town. Or can he? Here's everything we know about Netflix's upcoming horror-comedy.

Release date

'Hubie Halloween' is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 7, 2020.

Plot

According to the official synopsis of the movie, "Hubie Dubois (Adam Sandler) thanklessly spends every Halloween making sure the residents of his hometown, Salem, celebrate safely and play by the rules. But this year, an escaped criminal and a mysterious new neighbor have Hubie on high alert. When people start disappearing, it’s up to Hubie to convince the police (Kevin James and Kenan Thompson) and townsfolk that the monsters are real and only he can stop them. Hubie Halloween is a hilarious family film about an unlikely hero."
