How to watch 'Together' online: Dave Franco and Alison Brie star in this chilling body-horror love story
As with all other things that fade and recede with time, loving relationships often persist simply because of the force of habit. In between the everyday surface of a relationship between family members or even partners, there lurks the potential for mundane horror, often derived from the insecurities of the participants. There have been exceptionally rich horror films such as 'Babadook' and 'Under the Shadow' that have examined this phenomenon in painful detail. 'Together', directed by Australian filmmaker Michael Shanks, takes co-dependency to its extreme while skilfully combining the nightmarish elements of body horror.
'Together' stars real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie in the leading roles of Tim and Millie. Franco has also produced the film. Over the course of several years, Tim and Millie have been together and have come to arrive at a crossroads in their relationship where they must find the answer to whether they still love each other, or if they're still together just as a matter of habit. Complexities abound as Millie is a dedicated teacher who often feels that she's the perennial caregiver to Tim, who aspires to be a successful musician but hasn't yet hit any major milestones in his career.
Things were on the verge of looking up for them when Tim and Millie decided to relocate to a remote town in a bid to make things better between them, says PrimeTimer. The original plan was for Tim to work on his music, and Millie would take up a job as the local English teacher. However, this is exactly where things go downhill for the couple. After accidentally setting in motion a process of fusion, Tim and Millie discover to their horror that they are fusing in the literal sense! 'Together' originally premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival in early 2025 and also earned rave reviews at the Sydney International Film Festival. Upon its theatrical release, the film went on to earn $32.3 million at the box office, according to Collider.
The horror film has now found its streaming home at Hulu and will be exclusively available there. For the unversed, Hulu offers the basic subscription package at $11.99 per month with ads. The premium package without ads amounts to $18.99 per month. On the other hand, Hulu is also available in several bundles with other services such as Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+, and the rates for these fall within the range of $89.99 and $99.99 per month.
Despite being a horror movie, the human relationship on-screen shines forth in resplendent glory. As revealed by Shanks in an interview with Creative Screenwriting, the relationship was at the core of his process: "It was important that if we pulled the horror out of Together, you would find a compelling relationship drama between these characters. Like in a lot of rom-coms, we meet these characters when they’re at a crossroads. They may be bickering. They haven’t quite locked in with each other. And at the end of the rom-com, they commit, and they fall in love."
