‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Season 6 Episode 6 hints at the possibility of Annalise Keating faking her own death

All through Season 6 so far, we were being prepared for Annalise’s death and episode 5 had started to point us to a direction that we never expected all along.

When ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Season 6 opened with Annalise’s ‘probable death’, we somewhere knew that this season could be the end of Annalise Keating. In every episode there was some breadcrumb or the other that kept hinting that one of her people would be responsible for her murder.

By now we know that the FBI is after Annalise and K5 and that someone or the other from the gang is going to get killed. In Episode 4, it was revealed that Annalise and her K5 are already preparing for the worst-case scenario. But Annalise’s problems increased when Frank became injured and is left fighting for his life in the hospital. With every small unfolding of events that fear just kept increasing. And then suddenly, in Episode 5 we learn that Annalise and Solomon Vic (Michaela’s biological father) have a history that we are not yet aware of. Although Annalise admits to Michaela that she knew Solomon only because he approached her to take care of Micheala, we later learn that Vic owes Annalise some money for what she has done. By Episode 6, it is clear that Annalise and Solomon knew each other since their younger days and now Annalise is seeking his help to get her out of the country.

Meanwhile, Annalise files for a restraining order against the Castillos and pleads the court for protection. But what left us wondering was that Solomon Vic gets subpoenaed to testify against her on behalf of the Castillos. However, keeping Castillo-Vic connection aside, what we learn is that Vic has been trying to fix a private jet with a VIP travel agency to get Annalise to ‘flee’ the country. Even the defense counsel questions Annalise on why she should run if she has no illegal activities to escape from. Annalise is genuinely afraid that the Castillos might hunt her down next, after what they did to Frank. By the end of the episode, there’s a package at Annalise’s door containing a burner cell and a few passports for different countries.

Now, this is where our biggest question arises. All this while, we were hoping that Annalise will stand up for her K5 and protect them from every possible scenario, just like she had for the last five years. Also, when we saw a flash-forward of her death and started suspecting each of her friends and student to be responsible, we were rather feeling sorry for the woman who had gone through heaven and hell and risen from the ashes every time. But as the episode ended, we cannot help but think of the possibility that she might just be an escapist who would do anything to save herself from the apocalypse of her life; even if it means faking her own death.
