Inside Katey and Jed Duggar's relationship: 'Counting On' stars announce second pregnancy in new video
SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS: Jed Duggar and his wife, Katey Nakatsu, have revealed that they are expecting their second child, months after their first. Before digging into the details, the trio posted a YouTube video breaking the big news on a hoodie.
The video began with Jed holding the camera and announcing: "We have some news. Big news." He then directed the camera to Katey's hoodie, which said, "Joy to the world, oh & I'm pregnant." They then released a video from months ago of Jed on the beach with their kid, Truett. In the video, he says, "It was yesterday, Katey had came to me and said, 'Hey, I got a surprise for you.' And so I was like, 'What is this? And what is this about?' She said, 'I'll tell you tonight' and so I really didn't think too much about it." "She pulled me aside, and she said, 'Hey, so I took this pregnancy test the day before, and she said there was a faint line that came up, and she said I wasn't for sure, so I took another this morning, which would have been yesterday morning, and it came back positive," Jed said. They also discussed how they planned to break the news to their relatives at the Duggars' ugly Christmas sweater party. Katey intended to wear the announcement sweater she wore in the video. They recorded and included the family's response to the news in the video.

How did ‘Counting On’ alum Jed Duggar meet his wife, Katey?
Jed and Katey Duggar (née Nakatsu) have been married for almost a year and have revealed their whole love story to fans for the first time this August. In a YouTube video, the 'Counting On' alums took their internet fans on a journey from the first time they met until their wedding in 2021. Katey revealed that they first met in April 2019 when Jed was passing out fliers for an event that she couldn't attend due to her full-time job at a Florida prison ministry.
"So, fast-forward to February of 2020, literally weeks before COVID affected the world," she claimed in the video before adding she had returned to Arizona but was working with Jed in a prison ministry in Florida. "I had no clue Jed was going to be there. I knew a lot of the people that did the prison trips, but we had never been there at the same time before," she went on.
After being pleasantly thrilled to learn that Jed would be joining them on the vacation, the two hit it off almost immediately, even though their initial discussion included some sassy attitude. "I was like, ‘Oh, hey Katey, you’re the one that stole all of the coffee out of the coffee shop,'" Jed explained. "I wanted to be funny and say something so that she’d realize me."
Katey quickly answered by admitting she didn't even drink coffee, which immediately drew Jed in. "She was sassy, and I loved that. So, from there I was like, 'Whoa. This girl’s great, I gotta get to know her,'" he continued.
Every morning after breakfast, the two talked in an attempt to learn more about one another, but they kept it purely friendly because they both understood they lived in different states, Katey in Arizona and Jed in Arkansas. The reality star couldn't get her off his thoughts when the vacation ended, and they said their goodbyes.
"I said, 'Lord, if this is of you, I pray that you do a miracle. Like, allow us to meet again and see each other.' And that’s where an opportunity had come open," Jed continued.
In May 2020, Jed, his father Jim Bob Duggar, and brother Jeremiah Duggar traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to pick up a bus they had purchased and stayed at Katey's residence. After the Duggar men returned to Arkansas, Jed maintained touch with his lover's father, who eventually played cupid.
The couple began dating in August 2020 and kept their romance going via FaceTiming and visited each other once a month. Six months into their relationship, Jed knew she was "The One," and he proposed on Valentine's Day 2021. They tied the knot on April 3, 2021, and kissed for the first time at the altar.
"For us, it was the most special thing saving our first kiss and I still remember that first kiss, and I’ll remember it for the rest of our lives," Jed explained.
Jed and Katey had their first son in May of last year, the same month their second child is due to arrive a year later. They announced the approaching arrival of their bundle of joy in September 2021. Following his delivery, the couple rushed to Instagram to share the wonderful news that their family of two had grown to three. They announced the birth of their kid with an Instagram snapshot taken in the hospital and captioned with his name.
