The long awaited prequel to the 'Game of Thrones', 'House of the Dragon' is finally here and it will premiere on Sunday, August 21. With a stellar cast and an immersive storyline, the show may turn out to be another hit for HBO. Fans just can't keep calm after the trailer and teaser showed dragons and of course, the once powerful House Targaryen. Before the show finally drops, HBO has released some behind-the-scene videos where the cast and creators shared their thoughts on the upcoming show.
Martin and Ryan Condal serve as co-creators on the series. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal are showrunners, and the pair also serve as executive producers along with Martin, Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt. Clare Kilner and Geeta Vasant Patel will direct the series. Greg Yaitanes is director and co-executive producer. 'Game of Thrones' and 'Westworld' composer Ramin Djawadi has given the score for the series.

'House of the Dragon' on HBO: How the dragon-riding Targaryens were brought down to their knees
In one of the videos, named 'Height of an Empire,' Condal was seen talking about how exciting the project was because in 'Game of Thrones', all the Targaryens were dead leaving just Daenerys and her brother, which really didn't tell fans much about the Targaryen dynasty. He addded that in GoT, the Lannisters were fighting the Starks for the throne unlike 'House of the Dragon' where the Targaryens fight each other for the throne.
He added that the Targaryens were a formidable lot as they had dragons and hence, no one in the kingdom would dare to overthrow them. He went on to add that they were very specific about the casting and that no one, apart from Paddy Considine, could play King Viserys in the show.
Speaking about his role, Considine said, "I think Viserys struggles with being a king. Viserys feels it's a need to keep peace through out the kingdom. He also thinks that being a king is an extremely important throne to be on as he is very aware what it means to sit on the famous iron throne."
The BTS then shows a snippet of Considine's character saying, "Targaryens must understand the value how important it is to be king or queen," while looking at his daughter Rhaenyra. The BTS then jumps to Milly Alcock saying, "Rhaenyra feels she is suppressed and underestimated as she sees women in the kingdom being suppressed and only serving men. Rhaenyra doesn't like the fact that after she has come of age, she has to be courted with a man to produce another man. She despises it as she doesn't agree to it."
The BTS also shows the author and executive producer of the series, George RR Martin, saying, "The kingdom is named King's Landing as Aegon the conqueror had landed here with his dragons and army to conquer Westeros, and they built the Redfort where the Targaryens live and the Iron Throne is placed."
Judging from the BTS, the cast look like they have really put their best foot forward while creating the show. However, only time will tell if the audience will like this show. Tune in to HBO or stream the show on HBO Max to judge for yourself.
