Netflix’s 'His House': Meet Wunmi Mosaku, Sope Dirisu and rest of the cast of horror-thriller by Remi Weekes

Netflix’s upcoming film ‘His House’ follows a young refugee couple who try to start life afresh in England, until they begin to be tormented by a sinister force that reminds them of the horrors that they managed to escape in South Sudan. Wunmi  Mosaku

Nigerian-British actress Wunmi Mosaku essays the lead role in Netflix’s ‘His House’. The BAFTA award-winning actress is best known for her role as FloriaTaylor in the television film ‘Damilola, Our Loved Boy’. She was born in Nigeria and emigrated to England when she was one year old. Mosaku began her career with theatre after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2007. She was also a part of the initial UNDEREXPOSED exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery, which has been created to raise the profile of Black role models and talents among the British community. Mosaku was won the Best Actress in a Miniseries at the Roma Fiction Festival for featuring in BBC Two’s ‘Moses Jones’. She was named one of The Seven Fresh Faces of Toronto International Film Festival for ‘I Am Slave’. Mosaku’s television and film credits include ‘Lovecraft Country’, ‘Luther’, ‘The End of the F***ing World’, ‘Black Mirror, ‘Leading Lady Parts’, and ‘Philomena’ among others. 

Sope Dirisu

Sope Dirisu is an English actor from London. He was born to Nigerian parents and finished his schooling at Bedford Modern School. He later joined National Youth Theatre in 2006. Dirisu started his career in theatre by joining the Roya Shakespeare Company’s Open Stage Programme. He has featured in television series such as ‘The Mill’, ‘Utopia’, ‘Humans’, ‘Siblings’ and ‘Undercover’. Dirisu’s film credits include ‘Criminal, The Huntsman: Winter’s War’ and ‘Sand Castle’. 

Matt Smith

English actor Matt Smith is best known for playing the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC iconic science-fiction series ‘Doctor Who’. He was born and raised in Northampton. The actor started his career in theatre through the National Youth Theatre. He made his debut in television with ‘The Ruby in the Smoke’ in 2006. He rose to popularity by starring in 49 episodes of ‘Doctor Who’. He bid goodbye to the show by starring in its 50th-anniversary special ‘Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor’ in 2013. Smith has featured in films such as ‘Official Secrets’, ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’, ‘Terminator Genisys’, ‘Lost River’ among others. 

The rest of the cast of ‘His House’ include Javier Botet, Cornell John and Malaika Abigaba. 

‘His House’ will be available to stream on October 31 on Netflix only. It had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27.
