Hallmark is celebrating Christmas quite early on this year, and as a part of ‘Marvels of Christmas’ movie series, they are back with their first, original all-new release ‘A Merry Christmas Match’, releasing this October.

Plot

Corey (Ashley Newbrough) works at her mom’s antique shop in a small ski village. Corey always dreamed of leaving the town and becoming a theater director. But keeping her promise to her late father, she sets her ambitions aside and takes care of her home and organizes a Christmas pageant show. When she encounters the young and charming, Ryder (Kyle Dean Massey), Corey discovers new experiences, emotions, and tries to make sense of it all. Ryder walks into her life as a ray of hope, helping her find her way to fulfill her dreams. In the course of their interactions, sparks fly and they realize it is more than just friendship.

The movie features Ashley Newbrough and Kyle Dean Massey in the lead roles. Newbrough came to limelight with her work in the award-winning Canadian sports comedy “Rent-a-Goalie”. She was then seen in the CW drama series “Privileged” ABC’s “Mistresses”, Hallmark Channel’s “Love Under the Stars”, “Snowmance” and “Small Town Christmas”, among others. Kyle Dean Massey, on the other hand, is best known for his work in Broadway shows like 'Pippin', 'Next to Normal', 'Xanadu', 'Wicked', and more. In his recent network television, he scored high points as Kevin Bicks on ABC’s “Nashville”. The cast of ‘A Merry Christmas’ also includes Lindsey Gort and John DeLuca.

Director/Writer

‘A Merry Christmas Match’ is written and directed by Jake Helgren. A screenwriter, producer, and director, Helgren has previously worked on movies like 'The Good Nanny', 'Bridal Boot Camp', 'A Winter Wedding', and 'It Happened One Valentine’s', among others.
