'Gangs of London' Season 2: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Sky crime drama
Spoilers for 'Gangs of London'
According to reports, the second season of 'Gangs of London' is already "in development" and hopefully will be able to release next year. Thomas Benski, executive producer of the Sky drama, spoke at the virtual Edinburgh TV Festival in August revealing that the "timing" of the show has not been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic too much, because they had launched during the lockdown. “So assuming the world doesn’t end next year we should be good," he added. On June 24, 2020, Sky renewed the series for a second season with US broadcaster AMC decidedly airing both seasons in the country.
Release date
There is no official release date of 'Gangs of London' Season 2 due to the pandemic that's still raging around the globe. But reports claim that audiences can expect new episodes in 2022.
Plot
The synopsis of the series reads, "Set in the heart of one of the world's most dynamic and multicultural cities, 'Gangs of London' tells the story of a city being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of the international gangs that control it and the sudden power vacuum that's created when the head of London's most powerful crime family is assassinated."
It follows the consequences following the assassination of mob boss Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) as his son, Sean (Joe Cole), now head of the family, fights for control amongst other criminal gangs. Reports reveal that while the first season had many storylines, there were a lot of questions unanswered especially when it comes to Finn's investors, who the audiences have not seen yet.
The first season of the series saw Marian Wallace (Michelle Fairley) surviving after being shot by Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati), Shannon Dumani (Pippa Bennett-Warner) and Sean finding out that Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu) was an undercover cop, Shannon killing Vicky, Sean working with Elliot to take down the investors, Elliot betraying Sean by shooting him since the investors had threatened Shannon and her son's life and Alex Dumani gets to escape, thanks to Elliot.
Sky UK’s managing director of content, Zai Bennett, said: "Not only is Gangs of London Sky’s most binged premiere box-set this year, it’s the biggest original drama launch on Sky Atlantic of the past five years. It’s dark, dangerous and we are thrilled it is coming back for a second series." While the official synopsis of 'Gangs of London' Season 2 is yet to be revealed, we can expect a thrilling season.
Cast
Since we don't know if Sean is dead, we're unsure if Cole will return in Season 2 of the series but the other cast members that are likely to return would include Sope Dirisu as Elliot Carter/Finch, Michelle Fairley as Marian Wallace, Arta Dobroshi as Floriana, Lucian Msamati as Ed Dumani, Paapa Essiedu as Alex Dumani and Pippa Bennett-Warner as Shannon Dumani. Other characters include Narges Rashidi as Kurdish PKK militant Lale, Asif Raza Mir as Pakistani heroin kingpin Asif, Brian Vernel as Billy Wallace, Valene Kane as A&E doctor Jacqueline, and Orli Shuka as Albanian mafia boss Luan.

The series is directed by Corin Hardy, Gareth Evans and Xavier Gens with Evans, Matt Flannery, Peter Berry, Claire Wilson, Carl Joos, Joe Murtagh and Lauren Sequeira serving as writers.
