5 Best New Netflix Movies and Shows to Watch This Week (Sept 28-Oct 4)

Netflix’s latest release, Unabomber, has been one of the highly anticipated releases. It follows Ted Kaczynski's journey from a Harvard prodigy to the Unabomber. Directed by Janus Metz Pedersen, the series features Jacob Tremblay as a Young Ted, along with Russell Crowe and Shailene Woodley.

The animated series, Lego One Piece, is set to release on September 29, 2026, on Netflix. It features epic events from the live-action series’ first two seasons, in brick form. The cast includes original live-action actors voicing their LEGO counterparts. This includes Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Mackenyu as Zoro.

Much-awaited documentary, The Widower: ’Til Death Do Us Part, follows a journalist and a detective as they uncover the truth about a killer. Netflix describes the killer as the one whose “charm masked a trail of failed marriages and suspicious deaths.” Chris Smith directs the true-crime series, which follows the investigation of Thomas Randolph.

Netflix’s limited television series, East of Eden, stars Florence Pugh in the lead. It is adapted from John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel of the same name. A highly anticipated project from Zoe Kazan is set to premiere on October 1, 2026, on the streamer. Kazan also wrote the seven-episode limited series. Along with Pugh, it also features Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, and more.

Yet another project from Tyler Perry, Doing Life, will premiere on October 2, 2026. It is written, directed, and produced by Perry. The storyline centers on an unexpected bond between a single mother and a reformed ex-convict. An inmate, Carousel, saves Anika, a pregnant correctional officer, during a prison riot. Despite Carousel trying his best to prove that he has left his past life behind, Anika’s mother strongly disapproves of him.
