LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: This summer, Marvel fans are in for a big treat as the much-awaited 'Deadpool & Wolverine' is arriving in cinemas.

Set six years after the events of 'Deadpool 2', released in 2018, the upcoming MCU movie will show a reluctant yet epic reunion of Wade Wilson aka Deadpool and James Logan aka Wolverine, that will change the history of MCU.

The relationship between Deadpool and Wolverine has always been bitter-sweet. They’ve fought as arc enemies and teamed up as strained allies.

Ahead of the film's release, let's explore their unique bond and tumultuous history in the Marvel Universe.

The character of Wolverine debuted in 1974 in 'Incredible Hulk' #181, and it wasn’t until 1991 in 'New Mutants' #98 that Deadpool made his entrance in Marvel comics.

Despite years of gap between their introductions, their paths crossed in a way that would forever intertwine their stories.

Both characters were subjected to experiments by the shadowy Weapon X program, which gave Wolverine his nearly indestructible adamantium skeleton and implanted Deadpool with Wolverine’s regenerative healing factor to combat his terminal cancer.

The first significant meeting between Wolverine and Deadpool in the comics took place in 1994's 'Wolverine' #88. In this issue, Deadpool was wreaking havoc in an apartment in a bid to win back his girlfriend from Garrison Kane, a friend of Wolverine.

This initial encounter set the tone for their relationship—filled with sharp-witted banter, brutal fights, and a strange sense of camaraderie.

Deadpool’s chaos and Wolverine’s gruff, no-nonsense attitude clashed spectacularly, yet they found themselves repeatedly crossing paths.

One memorable clash occurred in 2008's 'Wolverine: Origins' when the Winter Soldier, still under Hydra’s influence, hired Deadpool to kill Wolverine. This encounter was orchestrated to lure out Wolverine’s son, Daken, who ultimately saved him, further complicating their dynamic.

Over the years, Deadpool has been sent on numerous missions to kill Wolverine. Though Deadpool has failed everytime, he has made a bizarre bond with Wolverine in the process.

Despite going after his life, Deadpool carries a deep respect for Wolverine. It became evident in their collaboration in 'Uncanny X-Force', where they worked together against formidable foes.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' will open with Wade Wilson enjoying his quiet retired life until Time Variance Authority pulls him into a new mission. He then brings Wolverine on the mission as well.

This time the frenemies won't be at each other's throats. Instead, they'll form a strong alliance against an existential threat. However, we can expect to see them continuing their bizarre love-hate relationship.
