'For Life': Release date, plot, cast, and everything you need to know about the 50 Cent-produced, ABC legal drama

Based on the life of prisoner-turned-lawyer Isaac Wright Jr., 'For Life' will premiere on ABC in February 2020. Read on to know more details.

Isaac Wright Jr. was convicted in 1991 for being the kingpin behind one of the largest drug distribution networks in the New York and New Jersey areas in 1991. He studied law while in prison and during an evidentiary hearing in 1996, he managed to extract a confession from a veteran police officer regarding misconduct in his case.

While he was in prison for other charges, Wright Jr. continued to study law and became a prison paralegal. He was instrumental in lowering the sentences and overturning convictions of over 20 inmates. After his charges were dropped in 2002, Wright Jr. pursued his law degree and graduated in 2007, following which he passed the New Jersey Bar in 2008. However, the New Jersey Bar's Committee spent the next nine years investigating him on character, finally granting him admission to the bar in 2017.

Now, Wright Jr.'s life has inspired a drama series - 'For Life', produced by 50 Cent, is set to premiere on ABC during the second half of the 2019-2020 season. Read on to find out more details of the show.

'For Life' will premiere on ABC on February 11, 2020.

Plot

'For Life' will be a fictional retelling of Wright Jr.'s story and follows the story of a prisoner, Aaron Wallace, who becomes a lawyer, litigating cases for other inmates while trying to overturn a life sentence for a crime he did not commit. His quest for freedom is driven by his intense desire to get back with his family and reclaim the life that was stolen from him as he tries to reconnect with his estranged wife and daughter. 

'For Life; will also examine the flaws and challenges in the US penal and legal systems through his fierce struggle and his complicated relationship with a progressive female warden.

Nicholas Pinnock

Nicholas Pinnock is an English actor known for his roles in 'Fortitude' and 'Marcella'. He plays the role of Aaron Wallace, a prisoner who becomes a lawyer. The character of Wallace is inspired by the life story of Isaac Wright Jr., who is now a licensed counselor.

Indira Varma

Indira Varma is a British-Swiss actress known for her roles in 'Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love' and 'Game of Thrones'. In 'For Life', she plays Safiya, the progressive female warden with whom Aaron has a complicated relationship with.

Joy Bryant

The show also stars Dorian Missick as Jamal, Tyla Harris as Jasmine with Mary Stuart Masterson as Anya and Boris McGiver as DA Maskins.

'For Life' was created by Hank Steinberg who will also serve as executive producer for the show alongside 50 Cent, Isaac Wright Jr., Doug Robinson, and Alison Greenspan.
