MIAMI, FLORIDA: A Florida man has reportedly been arrested for selling cocaine and possessing a large amount of fentanyl. Ramon Jorge Torres, 65, was arrested on Friday, August 5 when Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped him on US 1 near Mile Marker 102 around 2.45 pm.

Authorities reported that during his arrest, approximately 2.1 ounces of fentanyl was found in the possession of Torres, who had been wanted for selling cocaine, according to Local 10. The fentanyl was individually packed for sale and seemed to be mixed with cocaine, according to MSCO‘s spokesperson Adam Linhardt. The office further revealed that the Florida man was also found with a total of 1.5 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Torres was booked into the Monroe County Jail and faces a litany of drug-related charges, including trafficking fentanyl, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia possession, in addition to active warrants for cocaine sales.

Narcotics seized in Collier County

Torres’s arrest came after another Florida man was arrested for possessing illegal narcotics and a firearm. Javier Joel Perez, 45, was arrested on August 4 after investigators recovered a firearm and a significant quantity of illegal narcotics during a search at his residence. The Collier County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) noted in a statement that the Florida man is a convicted felon and documented gang member in Collier County. The CCSO reported that throughout the inquiry, investigators frequently observed a high level of “traffic” at the residence.

The majority of the traffic was made up of people trading drugs for money in hand-to-hand exchanges with Perez. At around 1.45 pm, detectives executed a search warrant at Perez's home on Taylor St in Immokalee with the assistance of SWAT and other CCSO units. During the search, detectives recovered a large amount of illegal narcotic items, including methamphetamine (29.5 grams), cocaine (8.8 grams), and marijuana (1,733 grams). A semiautomatic rifle was also recovered from the residence. The drugs were packaged for sale, according to Wink News.

'This type of illegal activity will not be tolerated'

The Florida man was arrested from his residence and was later charged with multiple narcotic and weapon felonies, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He is also charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Deputies stated that apart from Perez, a woman and two juveniles were found inside the house during the search. “I’ve made it very clear this type of illegal activity will not be tolerated in Collier County,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said following the arrest. “Our Vice and Narcotics Bureau detectives work diligently to identify and arrest drug dealers in our community. Day or night you never know when they are going to come knocking,” he added.
