With January 2021, NBC Universal's true-crime focused network, Oxygen, will be filling its schedule with countless new specials and series. With a slew of original content set to air, one docuseries may be of particular interest.

Over the past few years, the "Florida Man" has been referred to in headlines about various crimes. Like the time a Florida man called the police after a strip club joint refused to allow his kitten inside, or when a Florida man reportedly chewed off another man's face. It is no wonder then that a new meme arose of it. And it is around this phenomenon that one of Oxygen's new series centers.

Titled 'Florida Man Murders', the true-crime series delves into killers of the Sunshine State. The series will premiere as part of Oxygen's 'Nine Nights of Twisted Killers', a weeklong programming event from Saturday, January 9, 2021, to Sunday, January 17, 2021, featuring over 15 hours of brand new content from seasoned hitmakers. 'Florida Man Murders' will have a two-night premiere on Oxygen on Saturday, January 9, 2021, and Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 7/6c.

Plot

The official synopsis for 'Florida Man Murders' states: "This series from Blumhouse Television zeroes in on America’s most notorious and outrageous killers from the Sunshine State. Often referenced as “Florida Man” in headlines, these killers commit bizarre and outlandish crimes that captivate the nation and sometimes feel as though they are straight out of a Hollywood movie."

it adds, " With the aid of Florida investigators and prosecutors, the series unravels the cases’ strange twists and examines what drove these killers to commit attention-grabbing murders brutal enough to mistake for fiction. The premiere episode follows the case of Michael and Susan 'Missy' MacIvor, a newlywed couple found brutally murdered in their home after a tropical storm rips through Tavernier in the Florida Keys."

'Florida Man Murders' is produced by Blumhouse Television and Man vs Robot. Jason Blum and Marci Wiseman serve as executive producers for Blumhouse Television and Danny Villa and Sergio Villa serve as executive producers for Man vs Robot.
