OCALA, FLORIDA: A devastating incident unfolded on Interstate 75 in Marion County, Florida, claiming the life of a 63-year-old man on the morning of Monday, September 4.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred shortly before 6 am near the SR-326 exit.
What led to the tragic tractor-trailer collision?
The tragic sequence of events began with a tractor-trailer traveling south on I-75 in the right lane, followed by another tractor-trailer at a considerable distance behind it.
Meanwhile, a Florida man, a pedestrian, who later lost his life in the incident, was walking from east to west on the west paved shoulder. Inexplicably, he ventured into the right lane of the highway.
The driver of the leading tractor-trailer took evasive action in an attempt to avoid colliding with the pedestrian. Regrettably, there wasn't sufficient time to prevent a catastrophic outcome. The Florida man was struck by the front fender of the tractor-trailer, leading to a chain reaction of tragic events.

The impact on the pedestrian caused the driver of the tractor-trailer to lose control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the tractor-trailer veered off the highway and entered the grass median.
The trailer section of the truck overturned during this chaotic sequence of events as the tractor section collided with the median guardrail, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
In the aftermath of the collision, the trailer section came to rest on its left side, obstructing the left lane of I-75. Tragically, the Florida man also came to a rest in the right lane of the highway, leading to a perilous situation.
The second tractor-trailer, which was trailing behind, found itself in a helpless position. It was unable to avoid the overturned trailer in its path. As a result, the second tractor-trailer struck the overturned trailer with its front and undercarriage section, compounding the already devastating series of events.
Marion County Fire Rescue pronounced the Florida man from Opa Locka deceased at the scene, marking a heart-wrenching end to this tragic incident.
In response to the accident, the authorities promptly closed the roadway for a thorough investigation to determine the precise circumstances that led to this unfortunate loss of life.
