CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: A Florida man was arrested for throwing a lollipop at a Family Dollar manager while waiting to be checked out on Wednesday, August 30.

The 24-year-old Florida man, Dalton Reed, was standing in the queue while waiting to be checked out when he and the store manager got embroiled in a heated argument.

What did the Florida man do?

Per the court affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun, Reed threw the lollipop he had in his hand toward the store manager, David Johndrow.

The candy hit the manager in the chest, but the court record shows it “did not cause bodily harm.”

The police record said that the incident was “caught on camera and witnessed by employees,” reported New York Times.

After the confrontation in Clearwater, Dalton Reed was arrested and charged with simple battery and two misdemeanors. The police haven't seized any weapons from him.

Clearwater Police Department officers kept Reed in county jail after setting his bond amount at $650. Reed also has a long history of convictions including grand theft, DUI, narcotics possession, loitering and prowling, and retail theft.

A judge has also ordered him not to visit the Family Dollar store anymore. He is commanded not to contact Johndrow further.

San Francisco store clerk attacked by beer robber

Store violence incidents have been on the rise of late. Last Thursday, August 24, a 60-year-old store clerk in San Francisco, California was attacked and thrashed brutally by a robber who was stealing beers from the store.

The brave clerk, Yowhannes ‘John’ Tewelde, succumbed to death on Tuesday, August 29, after being assaulted mercilessly.

The man was working in a supermarket at the Richmond Market on Balboa Street. On the fateful day when he was assaulted, the perpetrator stole water from the store initially.

After the thief left, Tewelde was watching the store while being armed with a baseball bat. However, the thief came back after 10 minutes to steal two beers.

Unfortunately, Tewelde’s plan backfired and the thug assaulted him to a coma. Despite undergoing two surgeries, Tewelde did not regain consciousness and died on Tuesday, August 29, per Fox.

Tewelde got his American citizenship just eight weeks before the fatal assault. His family members told Fox that he underwent heart surgery in March.

His daughter Meron Tewelde shared with the outlet, "Right after his heart surgery, he didn't wait to go back to work because he wanted to be there. There's something about that community he loves. He loves everyone there.”
