MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA: A Florida man was reportedly arrested after police suspected him of choking his mother, and attacking her and his stepfather with a dog bowl in their home.

Rigoberto Reyes was arrested by authorities on Tuesday, August 15. He reportedly carried out the attack on his mother and stepfather at their home in in northwest Miami-Dade.

The victims sustained several injuries and needed staples.

Why is Rigoberto Dade arrested?

As per Local 10, Dade attacked his mother and stepfather around 1.15 am. He reportedly struck the couple with a dog bowl when they were asleep and then choked his mother.

Authorities said Reyes punched his stepfather on the side of his torso. The incident happened in their home near the 2400 block of Northwest 57th Street, in the county’s Gladeview area.

Reyes has been arrested and is facing numerous charges including aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older, aggravated battery with a weapon causing great bodily harm and domestic battery by strangulation.

Police said that Reyes showed irritable behavior and was banging his head against the glass partition in the police vehicle.

According to the police, Reyes was unable to provide a statement, and was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was set at $20,000.

Who are Rigoberto Reyes’ parents?

While the victims’ names are not known, police said that Reyes’ mother and steepfather were rushed to a hospital soon after the attack. 

The victims were taken to the North shore Medical Hospital in Miami, where they underwent trreatment. The doctors said that both victims sustained large lacerations due to the attack.

They had swellings on their heads which required staples. Furthermore, Reyes’ mother also sustained bruises on her forearms. The stepfather sustained bruises in his chest area and ribs because of the punches.
