KEY WEST, FLORIDA: James Riley Jackson, a 20-year-old Florida man operating a golf cart, was arrested on Saturday, September 9, for DUI.

This comes after a different Florida man was arrested and charged with DWI for fleeing the scene of an accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Why was the Florida man arrested?

James Riley Jackson, 20, was arrested after being stopped on US1 while operating a golf cart from the Key West Golf Club, according to authorities.

Police captured Jackson around Mile Marker 5 after receiving reports of a drunk man operating a golf cart out of a Key Haven Shell gas station, as per Local 10.

What did the officers find in the Florida man's golf cart?

Deputies claimed that the golf cart, which they described as having a dented and bent roof, damaged front wheels, and a part of its windshield missing, had numerous opened and unopened alcohol bottles inside.

The probe also involves claims of a stolen golf cart and damage to the Key West Golf Club, according to investigators, as per a press statement by Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies accused Jackson of driving under the influence, larceny, vehicle theft, criminal mischief with property damage, possession of a fake ID, and possession of alcohol while underage.

Deputies reported that they had brought him to jail without additional incident.

Where was the Florida man jailed?

Jackson was arrested and housed at the Monroe County Jail. According to online booking records, he will be arraigned on September 22.

The suspect's lawyer's details weren't immediately available, according to The Herald.
