SEFFNER, FLORIDA: A Florida man allegedly admitted to killing a 22-year-old woman he "barely knew" after a "prank" planned took a wrong turn. The grieving family of Ashley Voss opened up about her death after she was fatally shot outside her grandmother's home in Seffner.

Voss' family said she was a mother to a 22-month-old son and a four-year-old son. "Above anything, she loved her children. They were her world," said Voss' father Cory Voss said. "She was either at work or she was home with her children," the murder victim's grandmother Rhonda Voss said, according to Fox 13.

Who is Aurelio Diaz?

Aurelio Diaz who is a friend of Voss' baby's father with whom he planned the prank was seen walking up to the victim's car on July 20 at 1 am when she returned home to her grandmother's house. A neighbor's Ring doorbell camera captured the alleged killer shooting Voss through her car window as she was sitting in the driver's seat.

"There was no motive. Diaz did not know actually her. Well, he knew her, but they were not close. You know, it's not something where something could have happened or something could have transpired that would have made him murder her," said Rhonda.

The ring doorbell camera also captured the child's father interacting with Diaz on the night of the murder on Orange Street in Seffner. The baby's father has not been named yet as he has not been charged with Voss' murder and authorities refer to him as a witness. In a phone call set up by the investigators, the alleged killer told the child's father, "l did it just like l told you, walked up to the back window, and boom."

Voss' grandmother claims the baby's father had 'active participation' in the murder

During a second interview in the investigation, the baby's father told investigators that "at no time did he talk (to Diaz) about killing the victim, shooting the victim, or harming the victim. They were only playing a 'prank.'" However, Voss' grandmother believes he was actively involved in the murder. "How can you participate as much as he did in a prank or whatever they want to call this crime? He had active participation," she said.

Voss' 22-month-old son is being taken care of by Rhonda while her maternal grandmother is caring for her elder son. "I want to ask them to give justice to my daughter and justice to her sons and justice to our family," said. Diaz who is charged with one count of first-degree premeditated murder is currently held in the Hillsborough County Jail.
