'Fate: The Winx Saga' Season 2 on Netflix: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the young adult drama
Netflix's young adult series, titled 'Fate: The Winx Saga', is a live-action adaptation of 'Winx Club,' an Italian cartoon. The series, created by 'The Vampire Diaries' Brian Young, is set to premiere its six-episode Season 1 on Friday, January 22.
It follows five faires namely fire fairy Bloom (Abigail Cowen), mind fairy Musa (Elisha Applebaum), earth fairy Terra (Eliot Salt), light fairy Stella (Hannah van der Westhuizen) and water fairy Aisha (Precious Mustapha), as they attend the magical boarding school located in the Otherworld called Alfea. There's also an air fairy named Beatrix (Sadie Soverall).
While they learn how to control their powers and master their craft, they also walk straight into the wrath of decade-old monsters. Of course, fans of the 'Harry Potter' franchise may enjoy this show. And just like you, we are wondering if there will be a second season too. Release date
According to an interview with Cowen by The Wrap, there may be a Season 2. "An individual with knowledge tells The Wrap that there should be a Season 2, the hope is in fact to bring Flora into 'Fate: The Winx Saga'," reads the article. But, there is no official release date for Season 2 of 'Fate: The Winx Saga' as of yet. Stay tuned for updates.
Plot
The plot of the possible Season 2 is yet to be released. Although the official synopsis of the series reads, "'Fate: The Winx Saga' follows the coming-of-age journey of five fairies attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld where they must learn to master their powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence. From creator Brian Young ('The Vampire Diaries'), 'Fate: The Winx Saga' is a live-action reimagining of the Italian cartoon Winx Club from Iginio Straffi."
Cast
Abigail Cowen as Bloom
Cowen is known for her roles as Dorcas in 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' (2018-2020), Vicki Charmichael in 'Stranger Things' (2017), and Ricochet in 'The Power Couple' (2019). According to her IMDb page, the lead actor of the series is also a model and had actually signed up for acting classes at the age of four. The actress was also a track and field athlete while at Oviedo High School, and moved to LA in order to pursue acting after attending the University of Florida. Besides the productions already mention, she also had a guest role in 'Red Band Society' (2014) and a recurring appearance in 'Wisdom of the Crowd' (2017) and 'The Fosters' (2013).
Eliot Salt as Terra
Salt is known for her toles as Joanna in 'Normal People' (2020), Frances in 'Game Face' (2019), and Evelyn in 'Intelligence' (2020).
Elisha Applebaum as Musa
Applebaum has only been part of a handful of productions including 'Mob Handed' (2016), 'Undercover Hooligan' (2016), 'Carly & Paolo' (2017), 'Black Swan Theory' (2018), 'Leopard' (2020) and 'No Reasons' (2021).
The rest of the cast includes Hannah van der Westhuizen as Stella, Danny Griffin as Sky, Freddie Thorp as Riven, Precious Mustapha as Aisha, Sadie Soverall as Beatrix, Theo Graham as Dane, Jacob Dudman as Sam, Eve Best as Farah Dowling, and Robert James-Collier as Saul Silva, among others.

Iginio Straffi and Brian Young are the creators of the series and Lisa James Larsson, Hannah Quinn and Stephen Woolfenden serve as directors. Executive producers are Judy Counihan, Iginio Straffi, Kris Thykier and Brian Young. Jon Finn, Macdara Kelleher and John Keville are the producers of the show.
