'Evil' Episode 8 traumatizes fans with 'unholy baby' that is straight out of 'The Twilight Zone'

Think Gollum meets ET... and it still won't be half as disturbing as the baby is somehow David Acosta's half brother now.

This article contains spoilers for episode 8: '2 Fathers'.

On tonight's episode 8 of CBS' ongoing supernatural thriller 'Evil', we finally get to see the missing husband slash father of Kristen Bouchard's four children. But don't let that revelation deceive you from the intensity of incoming shocks through the rest of the episode because there was a baby born in tonight's episode and he is nothing short of terrifying. Think Gollum meets ET... and it still won't be half as disturbing as the baby that David Acosta's father's girlfriend gave birth to!

The title of the episode, '2 Fathers' has finally been decoded as we get to see two distinct father figures in the latest installment. There's the Bouchard father, who has been absent for the last seven episodes. And then there's the new Acosta dad whose newborn child looks like a hellspawn and immediately makes you extremely concerned about what havoc that child will wreak on those around him.

It all unfolds when Kristen overhears a woman's agonizing screams from a cornfield; when she walks deep into the field, she spots Esther, whom she had met earlier at the party at Leon's place. Esther was visibly pregnant and Kristen knows of her connection to the Acostas, so for her to see Esther in such extreme distress meant jumping to help. Too bad there's no network and lying in a pool of her bloody, gooey mess, Esther has to end up giving birth in the clearing amidst the field.

But the whole give birth-in-a-cornfield isn't the most shocking aspect of the episode, as what comes out of Esther wrapped in a cocoon of its own scaly skin is probably the most terrifying thing you've ever seen. Fans took to Twitter to compare the baby-thing to signature horror tropes, with them tweeting things like "This show just turned into the Twilight Zone... or something...," and "Rosemary baby don't have shit on David's half brother."

For others, it was just about confusion over what that thing actually is. A fan tweeted: "Anyone watching Evil on CBS right now? What in the SWEET HELL did that lady just give birth to?" Another came up with the crazy idea that this was all in Kristen's head, as they shared: "Did Kristen hallucinate that thing or did Esther really just have a demon baby?!"

Summing it up for the entire fandom, a third fan tweeted: "OMG That Baby! That UNHOLY Baby! Disgusting isn’t a strong enough word. The horror, the horror, the horror! #notsleepingtonite"

'Evil' airs on Thursdays at 10pm only on CBS.
