Eugene Levy bagged the 72nd Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for his role of Johnny Rose on the comedy 'Schitt's Creek'.

Levy was nominated alongside Anthony Anderson ('Black-ish'), Don Cheadle ('Black Monday'), Ted Danson ('The Good Place'), Michael Douglas ('The Kominsky Method'), Eugene Levy ('Schitt’s Creek'), and Ramy Youssef ('Ramy').

The hilarious six-season-long 'Schitt's Creek' follows the Rose family and their downfall from being filthy rich to absolute rags in the very odd, titular town. Levy stars with his son Dan and daughter Sarah. His co-star Catherine O'Hara who plays the role of his wife Moira also bagged the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2020 Emmys. After six strong years, the show finally earned a well deserved 15 nominations for its final season.

Taking the stand in his dining room where the entire cast was gathered, the 73-year-old Levy thanked his son Dan for the first-ever Emmy win of his career. "As a dad, getting to work on camera for six years with both my kids, Daniel and Sarah, I had such a joy. I love you both and could not be prouder," Levy said. He continued, "And that brings me to my multi-Emmy-nominated partner, Daniel Levy, who took our show that we came up with and brilliantly guided it to this little Emmy party tonight, so thank you, son."

The son — Dan — could be seen tearing up in the background as his father made the heartfelt speech. Most might remember Levy as the infamous father of Jim from the 'American Pie' franchise. In 'Schitt's Creek' however, Levy is the poised former multi-millionaire Johnny, who learns to live life in simpler terms after financial tragedy befalls.

He then has to move to the Schitt-show of a town which he had bought as a joke on a whim a while ago. Johnny logs head with the town's mayor Roland Schitt and the six-season arc progresses showing their relationship evolve as both grow fond of each other.

The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and aired live on September 20, at 8 pm on ABC.
