On September 3, ABC announced the release of a new unscripted series titled 'Emergency Call' as one of the shows in the network's fall lineup. The series is set to give audiences an inside look into the exchange between 911 responders and callers as they relay their grievances and emergencies. Here's all you should know about it.

Release Date

'Emergency Call' will premiere on September 28 on ABC with new episodes airing on Monday nights at 10 pm ET.

Plot

According to an ABC press release, 'Emergency Call' is a daring, new hour-long show documenting the first few crucial minutes of emergencies told through the lens of America's heroic 911 call takers. Audiences will get an inside look into the dramatic moments leading up to the arrival of help rather than the events themselves after the firefighters, police or emergency medical services teams arrive. It focuses on the extreme, suspenseful and sometimes humorous stories that flood 911 call centers.

Host

Luke Wilson

Luke Wilson is popular for his roles in comedies 'Best Men', 'Bongwater' and 'Home Fries'. He continued appearing in comedies including 'Charlie's Angels' and 'Legally Blonde', after which he pursued sinister roles in thrillers such as 'Bad Seed' and 'Soul Survivors'. He also appeared as Richie in 'The Royal Tenenbaums', which is arguable one of his most memorable performances to date.

Speaking about being a part of this show, Luke said, "Since I was a kid, I have always been interested in people who help. People who save people," He also added, "When you're younger, you might be drawn toward superheroes or fictional characters, but as you get older you come to realize that people who help, real-life heroes, are just regular people who do extraordinary things. 911 call takers don't just save people; they calm and console people until they are safe. They are the first link in the chain of first responders. For that, I feel very lucky to be a part of this project."

Creators

'Emergency Call' is executive produced by Adeline Ramage Rooney and Jonny Slow (8HOURS TELEVISION), Grant Kahler (showrunner), and Luke Wilson. The show is produced by 8HOURS TELEVISION, based on an original format by De Chinezen and licensed by Lineup Industries.

Trailer

This 30-second sneak-peek of this series shows 911 responders carefully handling calls that they receive from hundreds of stressed callers to report break-ins, a sick relative, a fire, among many other incidents.
