'Emergence' Episode 9: Will Piper's love for Jo push her to fight against her fellow AIs?

ABC's 'Emergence' surprised us with a mind-blowing episode today, before going on its scheduled winter break. Revealing new layers to its existing characters and by introducing a few more, the series has received a thumbs up from viewers for doing what it did with the finale episode. 

'Where You Belong' was deep in emotions, action and of course, full of surprises. The latest offering of the mystery-thriller series made up for its lack of clarity that reflected in its previous episodes by throwing light on its most prominent character Piper (Alexa Swinton), which was much needed. 

Episode 9 sees Piper being captured by Helen, who is also revealed to be a robot towards the end of the episode. We also learned that Benny (Owain Yeoman), Jo's (Allison Tolman) sidekick, is also one of their kind and played a smart game all along, which led to him achieving his goal. 

Now that Piper is being taken away to another realm, she needs to either come to terms with the new reality or find a way to get back to Jo. Although we are counting on Jo to save Piper, like she always has, we can't overlook the power of the new forces which she will have to encounter. 

Apart from the police chief's determination, we are also relying on Piper's love for her foster mom to help her fight the ultimate forces. Considering what Piper is capable of doing with her artificially designed powers, we could expect to see her work a few miracles. 

Unlike her fight against the common people in the real world, the little AI now has to wage war on extremely powerful entities to find an escape. Will Piper put her existence at risk for Jo and her family?

Since the show has written off some of its top villains and Jo being the only hero, we are eagerly waiting to witness new characters on the series as it progresses. The last episode of 'Emergence' concluded on an impressive note and we expect to see a similar display of creation once it returns.
