We have surprised ourselves by developing a soft spot for Piper in ‘Emergence’ more than any other character on the show, owing to the AI’s constant struggle with humans and the puppy dog eyes, which could convince even the ones with a heart of stone.
As viewers, we have been able to relate and empathize with Piper, an estranged little girl rescued by police chief Jo. However, when we look at her as an AI, several questions regarding her true intention with the real humans pop up.
As ABC’s mystery-thriller is set to premiere its midseason finale episode, ‘Where You Belong’, tonight, we are latching on to the series to witness some major revelations, which we’ve been waiting for since a long time!
The events of the previous episode teased our brains giving rise to several questions. For instance, who are the bad guys on a desperate hunt for Piper? And what makes them more powerful than the most influential man Richard Kindred? Going by what the preview of the next episode suggests, we might finally get to see the evil forces who burned facilities down to the ground.
The above situation enables yet another possibility, which includes Piper coming face-to-face with the ultimate villain. All along Piper has managed to escape everything that tried to bring her down or take complete control over her existence. Will the AI be able to use her technology-driven powers to overcome what could be one of the biggest threats?
However, it would be unwise of us to overlook the fact that she’s a robot who is capable of writing her own codes. A computer with a mind of its own, Piper isn’t all trustworthy, regardless of all the vulnerability she puts on the display. The upcoming episode may reveal to us a side of Piper’s that we never imagined even in our wildest dreams.
