Is 'Emergence' being cancelled? Episode 9 'Where You Belong' delayed by ABC and fans are worried
'Emergence' is one of the smartest, incredibly fun, and progressive shows on TV right now keeping its audience on their toes, and yet, as the show heads towards its winter finale with Season 1 Episode 9 titled ‘Where You Belong’, fans fear that ABC may cancel the show without a second season. If the prediction rings true, it would be one of the most heart-breaking cancellations of the season, especially considering how much we have come to love the various characters on the show, starting with Allison Tolman’s Jo and Alexa Swinton’s Piper.
Narrating the story of an AI with incredible powers but believes herself to be a human, ‘Emergence’ has created a perfect balance of sci-fi and emotions. From Jo’s cancer-ridden father to her ever so supportive ex-husband, the show has given us incredibly diverse storylines told from perspectives that are often ignored in pop culture.
Despite all this, the fear of cancellation is high among fans because of various reasons – starting with the number of breaks this show has gone on, since its premiere not too long ago. It started with the week-long absence ahead of the premiere of Episode 5 titled ‘RDZ9021’ and happened again ahead of the airing of Episode 7 titled ‘Fatal Exception’. Now, we are facing yet another week-long break ahead of Episode 9 ‘Where You Belong’, which also serves as the winter finale.

As much as we hate to admit it, cancellation is where ‘Emergence’ is headed, and our hope, for now, is that the showrunners are given the opportunity to showcase a plausible finale for the show before bidding a final goodbye.
