Apple TV+ is coming out with a brand new animated series and its unique perspective looks very heartwarming. 'El Deafo' is based on The New York Times Best Seller book of the same name by author Cece Bell.

The Apple TV series is inspired by her own life as she grew up deaf during her childhood. The series will chronicle her unique experiences with an imaginative twist when she develops a superhero alter-ego called El Deafo. What is 'El Deafo' about?

According to the Apple TV+ synopsis: 'El Deafo' is a charming and poignant three-part animated series for kids and families based on the #1 New York Times Bestselling and Newbery Honor Winning graphic memoir. It follows insightful young Cece as she loses her hearing and finds her inner superhero. Going to school and making new friends can be tough. Having to do both while wearing a bulky hearing aid on your chest? That takes superpowers! With a little help from her superhero alter ego, El Deafo, Cece learns to embrace what makes her extraordinary. 

Who stars in the Apple TV+ animation show?

Cece Bell as Narrator

Cecelia Carolina Bell or Cece Bell is an American author and illustrator. She attended the College of William and Mary as an art major and went on to get a graduate degree in illustration and design as well at Kent State University. Cece went on to become a freelance illustrator and designer for an array of projects before beginning her career as a full-time author-illustrator. Her works include 'Sock Monkey Takes a Bath', 'I Yam a Donkey', 'Sock Monkey in the Spotlight', 'Food Friends: Fun Foods That Go Together', and more. She won the Newbery Medal Honor and Eisner Award for her book 'El Deafo'.



 

The rest of the cast consists of Lexi Finiganas Cece/El Deafo, Pamela Adlon as Mom/Spidermom, and Jane Lynch as Mrs Sinklemann

Showrunners

The Apple Original series is produced and written by Will McRobb. Author Cece Bell executive produces and narrates the series. 'El Deafo' is co-executive produced by Claire Finn for Lighthouse Studios and directed by Gilly Fogg, with Mike Andrews as a composer and featuring original music by Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee.
