'The Secret' Korean remake: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about film starring EXO's D.O.
Doh Kyung-soo, who is better known by his stage name D.O. as member of boy band EXO, is certainly getting off to a good start in 2021. The actor and singer has been cast in two prestigious projects in less than a month after being discharged from his mandatory military service in January. He will play the lead role in the South Korean remake of the Taiwanese fantasy film 'Secret' which was released in 2008.
Release date
While no release date has been announced for the remake of 'Secret' yet, shooting for the film is expected to begin in the second half of 2021.
Plot
'Secret' is a time travel romance movie in which a piano prodigy transfers into a new school and meets a girl playing a mysterious melody in an old practice room. They both soon fall in love, but a secret threatens to create disharmony in this relationship. 'Secret', the original, was the directorial debut of Taiwanese musician Jay Chou who also stars in and co-wrote the film. The film also stars Gwei Lun-mei and Anthony Wong. 'Secret' was a huge hit in South Korea and drew more than 100,000 movie-goers which was a first for a Taiwanese film.
In a statement on Monday, February 15, the Hive Media Corp, the production company for the remake said "Doh will be featured as the male lead while the female lead will be decided through open auditions."

Doh Kyung-soo
Doh Kyung-soo, popularly known by his stage name D.O. is a 28-year-old singer and member of the popular South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO. He has starred in numerous television dramas and movies that include 'Pure Love', 'My Annoying Brother', 'Positive Physique', 'Room No.7', '100 Days My Prince', 'Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds' and 'Swing Kids'. Prior to filming 'Secret', Doh will be playing the lead role in a sci-fi blockbuster tentatively titled 'The Moon'. The film will be directed by Kim Yong-hwa who previously directed Doh in 'Along With the Gods'.
Creators
The remake will be directed by Seo Yoo-min who wrote screenplays for films such as 'April Snow', 'Happiness' and 'You Call it Passion'.
