LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Authorities are looking into the possibility that Rex Heuermann, the man suspected of killing three women whose remains were discovered on a Long Island beach road more than ten years ago, may have murdered his victims at his home in Massapequa Park.
Heuermann lives in Long Island with his wife and two adult children, who, according to the authorities, were not home during the suspected killings. A week after his arrest, the house is still being searched, indicating that the investigation is still underway. According to one investigator, they are searching the house inch-by-inch for proof. Additionally, two law enforcement sources confirmed that detectives are trying to figure out if Heuermann is related to any other unsolved homicide cases around the nation. To determine if the suspect is connected to any unsolved deaths that took place in Suffolk County, New Jersey, investigators are presently working along with those in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as reported by CBS News.

According to sources, authorities from Suffolk County have previously carried out several court-authorized search warrants elsewhere in the country, notably in South Carolina and Las Vegas, where Heuermann may have had connections. The suspect's Chevrolet Avalanche vehicle, found in South Carolina and brought to Suffolk County, is thought to be related to at least one of the killings. Long Island police will likely search the truck for any potential proof of the crimes.
Heuermann's wife and two children were 'in the dark'
After 20 years of marriage, the suspect's wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce from him in Suffolk County Supreme Court on Wednesday, according to Ellerup's lawyer, Robert Macedonio. According to the police, Heuermann's wife and two children were " in the dark about his double life," as per reports.
Ellerup was instructed to leave the house with nothing
According to Macedonio, Ellerup was instructed to leave the couple's home with nothing except the clothing on her back, and she has yet to be allowed to come back while detectives are still examining the house. All of the gadgets in the home, including those owned by her and the two adult children, have been confiscated by investigators. Her automobile, which had been parked at the couple's Long Island house, has also been seized, as per reports.
