LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 3 aired on HBO on June 30, 2024. The fan-favorite 'Game of Thrones' prequel has the audience deeply invested in its intriguing storytelling and engaging narrative.

Episode 3 saw Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) sending Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell) away with her sons Joffrey Velaryon, Aegon III Targaryen, and Viserys II Targaryen). Rhaenyra faced an attack on her in the previous episode and she wants to ensure the safety of her children as Dance of the Dragons is imminent.

Along with Rhaena, she sends two young dragons Tyraxes and Stormcloud, and a few unhatched eggs. The unhatched eggs took the viewers back to 'Game of Thrones' where Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is given three unhatched eggs in Pentos. Fans wonder if the eggs that went with Rhaena are the same eggs that Daenerys finds.

Fans who saw the episode noticed the similarities between the dragon eggs carried by Rhaena to that of Daenerys's eggs. While there were contradicting theories about the eggs, the director of Episode 3, Geeta Vasant Patel gave some clarity about the situation.

While speaking to Mashable, director Geeta Vasant Patel confirmed that the three eggs are indeed Daenerys Eggs. Geeta Vasant Patel said, "Those are Daenerys' eggs,". She further talked about how much she enjoyed shooting the scene. She said, "All of us who work on this show are big Game of Thrones fans, so it was very exciting to shoot that scene," as per the source.

Theory contradicts George R R Martin's 'Fire and Blood'

The theory of these eggs being the same eggs shown in 'Game of Thrones' contradicts the history of George R R Martin's universe where the eggs were stolen during Jaehaerys 1's rule.

The person responsible for stealing them was a skilled sailor named Elissa Farman who took the eggs from Dragonstone and sold them off to the sealord of Braavos.

The interesting thing here is that the sailor had a lover by the name of Princess Rhaena Targaryen. It could be possible that the makers adapted the story and just took liberty on the timeline. It will be interesting to see the fate of the eggs as Rhaena takes them away from Dragonstone in 'House of the Dragon'.

Fans speculate about the 'Game of Thrones' connection

Fans were equally confused about the eggs and it became a talking point of the episode. A Reddit user said, "Dumb question - Are these the eggs that were used at Summerhall or the ones that Dany got?". Another Reddit user commented, "Maybe summerhall? Elissa Farman stole Dreamfyre's eggs long before Hot D," pointing to the George R R Martin narrative.

Fans were looking closely to see the similarities. A Reddit user said, "Were those eggs the ones that end up with Daenerys? 3 were the exact same color as the ones she gets in game of thrones. Had to pause to be sure they matched".

Another Reddit user called it fan service by saying "Yes but it was pure fan service. Elissa Farman stole the 3 eggs like 50 years prior to the Dance of Dragons".
