NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: North Carolina is on a fortunate streak. However, fans at home might argue that Ryan Seacrest was the actual lucky one this New Year's Eve, as the 'American Idol' host was jilted and maybe slightly assaulted by a $1 million prize winner, Pamela Bradshaw.

Pamela, a Clinton resident, won the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year lottery, which was held shortly after midnight on January 1. She is the second North Carolinian to receive the $1 million prize, which was first awarded in 2020 to a winner from Maine.

Gary Krigbaum, from Spindale, won the $1 million award last year after beating off 28 other candidates. Pamela had a 1 in 5 chance of winning the grand prize drawing.

Pamela won at 12:19 am during the broadcast of 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' with Ryan. She celebrated by falling to the floor as the confetti fell again after her Powerball number was drawn.

Her daughter and Ryan assisted her in getting up.

Pamela then seemed to kiss Ryan on the lips. People on X were having a great time for a variety of reasons.

Some people wrote, "Ryan Seacrest getting attacked by a lottery winner was the best part of the night." Another user chimed in, "I think Ryan Seacrest might regret picking a millionaire Powerball winner live on air. He just got mauled by a lady crazed with excitement."

One user asked, "Ryan Seacrest, you okay?!?! Lady, I'm happy for you but stop touching him." While a fourth quipped, "Granted, it’s early, but the best tackle of 2024 goes to the lottery winner who tackled Ryan Secrest. You can see the fear on his face!"

One tweet also read, "I thought Green Day’s performance was the best we had on this year’s #RockinEve , I was wrong. The BEST and the ACTUAL MOMENT was when that lady won the powerball and assaulted Ryan Seacrest on live TV. I’m weakkkk." Another person added, "She slipped #RyanSeacrest a lil tongue for that #million."

Why was the Central Time Zone countdown from New Orleans removed?

New Year's Rockin' Eve, which began at midnight in the Atlantic Time Zone (11 pm ET), featured a Spanish language countdown, with Dayanara Torres returning as co-host from Puerto Rico's Convention Center.

The Central Time Zone countdown from New Orleans, which has been a component of the performance since 2017, has been dropped.

The adjustments came in the first year of 'Rockin' Eve's new ownership at DCP, which was purchased in January by Penske Media Eldridge, a subsidiary of Deadline parent PMC. The yearly program was extended until January 1, 2029.
