'Bass Reeves': Dennis Quaid to play titular role in Taylor Sheridan's 'Yellowstone' spin-off
FORT WORTH, TEXAS: Dennis Quaid is set to join the cast of 'Bass Reeves', a spin-off of the series '1883', which in fact was a prequel to 'Yellowstone'. Quaid will be joining as the new Marshall of the American West. Quaid will be seen starring opposite David Oyelowo, who is set to play the titular character of this west-world drama.
Quaid's recent appearance was in Disney's animated feature 'Strange World' where he voiced Jaeger Clade. He has also appeared as Beauchamp in the movie 'The Tiger Rising'. Whilst, Oyelowo is known for his works 'Selma' and 'A United Kingdom'. 'Bass Reeves' is created by Taylor Sheridan, who created both the previously mentioned series 'Yellowstone' (co-created with John Linson) and '1883'. He is also known for co-creating the famous 'Mayor of Kingstown' with Hugh Dillon.

According to Collider, Quaid is set to appear in the upcoming period drama 'Bass Reeves'. Quaid is set to play the role of a Deputy Chief Marshall named Sherrill Lynn in the series. This Taylor Sheridan directed series' spin-off is set to follow the historical character Bass Reeves, who holds a significant place in America's history and is regarded as a great hero. Reeves was the first ever Black Deputy Chief Marshall and is known as the inspiration for 'The Lone Ranger'. Reeves was known for his frontier hero actions, particularly the one of arresting more than 3,000 criminals without getting wounded. The shoot of this film is currently ongoing in Fort Worth, Texas. Now, the addition of the legendary castmate to the production has increased the expectation of the series.
'Yellowstone' is a historical drama series, set in the Western world that follows the Dutton family. John Dutton is the owner of the largest contiguous ranch in the United States and the story follows the politics, business and lives during the new frontier era and the navigation of Dutton amidst its messy consequences. On the other hand, '1833' is a miniseries that again follows the Dutton family as they try to escape poverty and tell the journey they took to the West. The extension of the connection of 'Bass Reeves' to its parent series is yet to be revealed.
