Born in August 1981, Meagan started her professional career as a model and tried her luck at acting in 1991. She made her first TV show appearance on the show ‘Gabriel’s Fire’.

On the other hand, she made her feature film debut in 1995 with ‘Friday’. However, she grabbed a lot of eyeballs with her impeccable acting in the movie ‘Eve’s Bayou’. She was nominated at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Awards in 1998 for her amazing work in the movie.

Discussing the latest movie and why it is important to make a movie on a woman faking her own death, Meagan said, “For me, we don’t talk about this enough. The domestic violence and the things people go through in secret. So, I had the opportunity to do a film like this where a woman not only thinks she deserves more and she actually gets herself out of the situation.”

Trailer

But behind closed doors, her life is far from idyllic.  Her husband Ed (Chiké Okonkwo) is a controlling man who is physically and psychologically abusive."

"When Jade decides to leave Ed, he tells her ‘If I can’t have you, nobody will’, a threat which becomes very real when she discovers he has hired someone to kill her.
