‘Death Saved My Life’ chronicles the journey of Jade (Good) and her family life. On the surface, it seems Jade has everything that’s needed to live an amazing life, a successful marketing career, a great husband, and respect in the community for her work. She loves her daughter and does everything for her family. But all is not well for her behind closed doors, as her husband, Ed is abusive and makes her life miserable.
One day she decides to leave her husband and everything behind to live a normal life. However, her husband hires an assassin to kill her. Knowing no one will believe her, Jade realizes the only way to escape Ed is to make him believe the hitman did the job and make everyone believe that she is dead.
Born in August 1981, Meagan started her professional career as a model and tried her luck at acting in 1991. She made her first TV show appearance on the show ‘Gabriel’s Fire’.
On the other hand, she made her feature film debut in 1995 with ‘Friday’. However, she grabbed a lot of eyeballs with her impeccable acting in the movie ‘Eve’s Bayou’. She was nominated at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Awards in 1998 for her amazing work in the movie.
Apart from the aforementioned titled, Meagan has appeared in projects such as ‘The Secret Life of Girls’, ‘One Missed Call’, ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’, ‘Deception’, ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘Minority Report’ and many more.
Discussing the latest movie and why it is important to make a movie on a woman faking her own death, Meagan said, “For me, we don’t talk about this enough. The domestic violence and the things people go through in secret. So, I had the opportunity to do a film like this where a woman not only thinks she deserves more and she actually gets herself out of the situation.”
Just like her sister, La’Miya Good also started her career with television and tried to make her name in the industry. Starting her career with the show ‘Tall Hopes’, La’Miya has made appearances in more than 10 TV shows and six movies in her illustrious career. ‘Busted’, ‘Crossed the Line’, ‘ER’, ‘The Parkers’ and ‘Judging Amy’ are some of the projects she has worked on.
Directed by Seth Jarrett, ‘Death Saved My Life’ is one of the most-anticipated movies of 2021. Jarrett has directed several projects such as ‘School Spirits’, ‘The Haunting Of’, ‘School Spirits’, and ‘The Mark of a Killer’. This will be Lifetime’s 399th original movie premiere since it was launched in 1984.
The movie is produced by Jarrett Creative. Meanwhile, Julie Insogna Jarrett, Seth Jarrett, and Meagan Good will serve as executive producers.
The official synopsis reads: “On the surface, it seems Jade (Meagan Good) has it all, a successful marketing career, a husband admired and respected in the community, and a young daughter they both dote on. But behind closed doors, her life is far from idyllic. Her husband Ed (Chiké Okonkwo) is a controlling man who is physically and psychologically abusive."
"When Jade decides to leave Ed, he tells her ‘If I can’t have you, nobody will’, a threat which becomes very real when she discovers he has hired someone to kill her. Knowing no one will believe her, Jade realizes the only way to escape Ed is to make him believe the hitman completed the job and that she is dead.”
