Not all wins are worth the pain, equally, not all losses are bad. And with this, life moves on. The same happens in a humdinger finale of 'City on a Hill' Season 3 Episode 8 as the ones who want to win, win. Decourcy Ward (Aldis Hodge) is now interim DA after he forces Sinclair Dryden (Corbin Bernsen) into a drug-fueled comatose to push the trial that proves the millionaire guilty. It's not a win. But he had Sinclair on the mat, and that will be whispered in the hallways of the Attorney's office years as the show heads into a probable Season 4

For Jackie Rohr (Kevin Bacon), the only thing to look forward to now is revenge against Sinclair if and when he wakes up. His wife Jenny (Jill Hennessy), who's fought her own battles throughout the season is now a woman with her own choices. She's been legal guardian of her half-brother living in a mental health facility, and she's made peace with the fact that her father would be who he is — the opinions, in the end, don't really matter. In a way, her and Jackie's infidelity to each other all but closed down their relationship. Honestly, it was coming, and there was no stopping it, just like there was no stopping Letitia Dryden (Joanne Kelly) either as she walks away from all the mess that she was actively part of.

'City on a Hill' Season 3 Episode 1: Fans want the Drydens DEAD, say 'these people are sick'

So who really won? And that's all perspective now as 'City on a Hill' draws curtains on a perfect season. There's no confirmation of a Season 4 at the time of writing, but Showtime has a pattern where renewal news is a mere formality, and there's enough of a story that's still to be told. With new cases in-store and Ward's promotion in a crime-riddled Boston yet to sink in, the fourth installment will surely have some great content. It might be the time we see Jackie flashing that FBI badge again with Ward may be playing a part in getting his old job back. How Siobhan (Lauren E Banks) and Jenny deal with the aftermath of their actions will surely form the crux of season 4.

'City on a Hill' Season 3 was all about giving the key characters their own challenges, some that may see them be gods or some that turn them into monsters. For Rohr and Ward, it's the familiar question of how dirty they can get their hands to be where they want to be.

'City on a Hill' Season 3 is available for streaming on the Showtime App.
