'City on a Hill' Episode 2: 'Glad the writers are keeping it real' say fans after Showtime drama's portrayal of racism
'City on a Hill' Season 3 continued to garner impressive reviews from fans as it stepped into its second week. The series, known for its gritty and gripping storyline was off to a good start last week and gets better. The second episode focuses on Aldis Hodge's Decourcy Ward and his perspective on his job as Boston's ADA.
It comes at a cost. His father, Franklin Ward (Ernie Hudson) gives him the last pearl of wisdom before succumbing to cancer. Every other major player on the show gets some screentime as well. Jill Hennessey's Jenny makes her feelings for her father perfectly clear with a jaw-cracking punch, while Jackie Rohr(Kevin Bacon) and his business with the Drydens gets murkier by the minute. Coming back to the fan reviews, there was enough to rave and talk about.

'City on a Hill' Season 3 Episode 2: Does Franklin Ward die?
"Another Awesome episode of City on a Hill tonight I can’t wait for the new episode next Sunday #CityOnAHill@Showtime," one of the tweets read. This was seconded by another who wrote: "This show is great. Hope yous watching #CityOnAHill". One of the fans delved a little deeper into the 90s Boston. "I’m glad the writers keeping it real and showing how racist Boston “was”, have no doubts it’s a grand city but they too have a horrible racist “past”. Racist people aren’t just in the south! #CityOnAHill"
Some focussed on the cars. "The 90's nostalgia of being reminded of the cars of that time is golden. Both M5 BMW and the LS400 Lexus were a statements in the 90's. #CityOnAHill". For one segment, it was time for a rewind. "I’m not sure where my head was. I saw Kevin Bacon on the View who said COAH was back on. I was excited to watch the new season (3); realized that I never watched Season 2 that was there all along. I waited a whole year. Now watching S2. #CityOnAHill". As much as a rarity, there was one negative review: "#CityOnAHill is startin’ off too slow & all over the place this season…they gotta hurry up & tie everything together…don’t wait til it’s 2 episodes left to make it all make sense."
To end with, here's a quick word of appreciation for Hodge. "Decourcy. I love the name and the actor who plays him lol #CityOnAHill"
