UPDATED SEP 16, 2019

NBC's long-running action-drama 'Chicago Fire' following the lives of firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics of Firehouse 51 of the Chicago Fire Department is about to return with its eighth installment. While the franchise has never held back from delivering some hard-hitting action, there is still a lot left to unfold in the upcoming season which is slated to arrive this fall. Here's all you need to know about it.

Release date

NBC has officially confirmed that season eight will premiere on September 25, at 9 pm, and stick to its Wednesday night time slot.

'Chicago Fire' season 8 is premiering on September 25 only NBC.

Plot

The previous and seventh season's finale ended with the ever so teasing cliffhanger about the factory fire, alongside Brett's hesitation about accepting Chaplain Kyle's proposal. Apart from that premise, NBC has managed to keep everything under wraps for this season. According to TVLine, a new paramedic will be joining the main characters, who will be "like Anderson Cooper minus a couple dozen IQ points". What this means for Brett is definitely something to think about, but it could also mean that the character will undergo a career change most likely. But let's keep our fingers crossed for the new paramedic, hoping it will zhush up the dynamics of the series altogether. The premiere episode is titled 'Sacred Ground.'

Creator

Created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, with Dick Wolf as executive producer, the series is the first installment of Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise that also went on to have other crossovers, titled 'Chicago PD', 'Chicago Meds', and 'Chicago Justice'.
