Who is Charithra Chandran?

Born in 1997, Charithra Chandran is a British actress of Indian origin who grew up in Oxford City, England. Even though she grew up in England, she loves Indian culture and has deep roots in her traditions. In 2013, she attended Oxford High School and was the Head Scholar. Meanwhile, in 2016, she took admission at the prestigious Oxford University and graduated with a degree in BA (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics). She passed with first-class honors.

One of the most fascinating parts of her career is that she didn’t want to be an actress initially and did a lot of work before transitioning to acting. In 2015, she began her professional journey by working as a “food server” at Bill’s Restaurants. Later that year, she joined the House of Commons, the lower house of the Parliament of the United Kingdom as a Parliamentary Assistant. From September 2015 to December 2015, she carried out casework relating to housing, schools, and community centers. Apart from that, she also wrote for the official website and local newspapers.

After doing internships in a couple of organizations, she helped children aged 11-22 in subjects such as Maths, Philosophy, and Economics. According to her LinkedIn profile, she was working as a Research Analyst at New Policy Institute before making her debut as an actor.

Chandran’s rendezvous with acting

Even though she is relatively a new name in the world of entertainment, she is not new to acting. She took training at the National Youth Theatre and made her acting debut in March 2018. Chandran played the role of Madea in a production of the namesake play at the Keble O’Reilly Theatre. Apart from that, she has also worked in theatre production such as ‘Drunk Enough to Say I Love You’ and ‘House of Bernarda Alba’.

The actress made her Television debut in 2021 with the Amazon Prime series ‘Alex Rider’. She played the role of Sabina Pleasance and garnered a lot of praise. Interestingly, ‘Bridgerton’ is her second project as a professional actor. However, she is packed with work now and will be seen in three projects in the near future.

Apart from acting, she enjoys dancing and playing Badminton. She is fluent in three languages – English, French, and Tamil.

The 24-year-old actress has 42,600 followers on Instagram and the number will surely go up once the show arrives on Netflix.

'Bridgerton' Season 2 arrives on Netflix on Friday, March 25.
