MOSCOW, IDAHO: University of Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger has in the recent past been compared to a string of serial killers, including Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy. In a recent subreddit, netizens have now found an eerie similarity between Kohberger and Danny Rolling, infamous as the Gainesville Ripper for the cold-blooded murders of five students in Gainesville, Florida, over four days in August 1990.

Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminology student, was arrested on December 30, 2022, in connection with the murders of four students - Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21 - on November 13, 2022. He has been charged with four counts of murder and one count of felony burglary.

Kohberger's mental health has been questioned by several online and various theories have emerged that suggest he had a very troubled psyche. The nature of the crime and the relatively long time police took to narrow down on the suspect have also led several to compare Kohberger to convicted serial killers such as Bundy. The recent comparison with 'The Gainesville Killer' Rolling stems from several reported facts, including the type of victims, the nature of the crime, and the weapon used.

Danny Rolling's crime and why Internet is comparing him to Bryan Kohberger

As per documented reports, during a burglary and robbery rampage in Gainesville, Florida in August 1990, Rolling killed five students -- one from Santa Fe College and four from the University of Florida. He severed one of his victims' heads from its body. Then he posed them, occasionally using a mirror. Rolling was accused of five charges of murder in November 1991 and received the death penalty on April 20, 1994. He was reportedly diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and paraphilia -- disorders which several experts are linking Kohberger with.

In a thread posted by Redditor Present-Watercress66 in the sub BryanKohberger, the user claims there are similarities between the Gainesville murders and the Idaho killings. "I was wondering why the media jumps on ted bundy as comparison - but BK actually copied Danny Rolling," the user wrote in the post. As per the Redditor, both Kohberger and Rolling entered through a sliding door, used the same type of weapon, and the victims of both killers were students.

Commenting on the thread, a user acknowledged the "eerie" similarity between the two crimes. "Yeah nah he's not a Bundy at all. Rolling is an interesting comparison. A bit eerie to be honest," Redditor MegaPint549 wrote.
