MOAB, UTAH: Gabby Petito's case has taken a shocking turn after it was revealed that Brian Laundrie's mother allegedly wrote a letter to him, offering to "bring a shovel and bury a body," at the time of the vlogger's disappearance. Roberta's chilling letter was read in court by Patrick Reilly, the attorney representing Petito's family, on Tuesday, February 14.

Petito and Laundrie were on a road trip in Wyoming when things went awry between the pair. She was found strangled to death nearly a month after her disappearance in August, 2021. Police found her remains in Grand Teton National Park in September the same year along with a notebook that revealed Laundrie killed her and took his own life out of guilt. His body was found in October and reports said he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, the letter suggested that Roberta was willing to help get Laundrie "out of prison," Reilly reportedly said.

'Burn after reading!'

Reilly discovered the letter in Laundrie's backpack after his body was found in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in North Port, Florida. He reportedly claimed the letter was in the FBI's regional office and was allegedly labeled, "Burn after reading." "This request would also include the note that Roberta Laundrie wrote to Brian Laundrie which she offered to bring a shovel to help bury the body," court documents obtained by CNN read.

"This note was released to the custody of Mr. Bertolino on Friday, June 24, 2022 by the FBI," documents added. This letter will be used to support the lawsuit filed by Petito's parents, Joseph and Nichole Schmidt, against the Laundrie's, claiming that they were aware that their son had killed her and was not forthcoming. They are also suing the Laundries for emotional distress. The lawsuit will go to trial in August.

'Holy F!'

After the shocking news broke,  netizens took to social media to voice their opinion, demanding Laundries parents be locked up as well. A person tweeted, "Gabby even lived with this woman and her family for awhile . God the mother is as wicked as her son . Poor innocent little Gabby we followed her videos and felt scared for her while she and her fiancé travelled together . What a loss to her mom who she looked a lot like." Another added, "His parents need to be prosecuted." A third said, "Holy F." "Always want justice for Gabby, in whatever ways her family sees fit," another netizen chipped in. A user asked, "Is there a reason they’re not in f******g jail?!?!?! "That's some effed up sh!t," stated another user.
