LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 23 welcomed new coaches Chance The Rapper and Niall Horan with the longtime Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson. The OG coaches turn their chairs in the latest episode for the impressive vocals to add the contestants to their respective teams.
Among the singing sensations was, Kason Lester, who got only one chair turned. He ultimately joined 'Team Blake'. However, the singing competition fans found Kason familiar as he previously appeared on 'American Idol' Season 17 in 2019. Who is Kason Lester?
Kason belongs to Lebanon, Tennessee, and is already a social media sensation. He is a strawberry farmer and runs a 200-acre farm called Lester Farms with his brother. Notably, Kason also loves fishing. He graduated from Belmont University in 2017. Additionally, he holds a degree in music business and production. However, back in 2019, Kason won the hearts of the 'American Idol' judges with his re-edition of Chris Janson's song 'Hold Her'. Katy Perry was impressed with Kason's performance and told that he could reach the top 10. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the third round of the ABC network show along with singers Clay Page and Johanna Jones. But Kason garnered fans around the globe and since then he has released several songs. Kason's credits include the covers of songs like Post Malone's 'Take What You Want' and The Beatles' 'Come Together'. Notably, Kason has also released an original country song 'Love You Yet' which amassed more than 350,000 Spotify streams. Kason's second original, 'Unseen', was released in 2020.
Why did only Blake Shelton turn for Kason Lester?
Kason performed 'It's Not Over'. Blake didn't waste his time and immediately turned for him. Blake praised Kason before turning around that he was drawn to the tone of his voice specifically its 'gravelly, sizzly sound. I love it, dude.' He added, "I like that voice. I’m going in." After pressing the buzzer, Blake gushed, "This is the last time I’m gonna ever get to do this." He added, "So I’m putting together my dream team. I wanted a rock artist, and I can’t think of a better one than you, dude." Meanwhile, other 'The Voice' judges, Niall, Kelly, and Chance didn't turn their chairs for Kason but they did acknowledge Kason's potential.

As only Blake turned for Kason, he ultimately ended up in Team Blake. Meanwhile, 'The Voice' viewers slammed coaches for not turning for Kason. They took to the comments of Kason's audition and said, "Omg!! How anyone didn’t turn around immediately!! On fire!!" Another user added, "Tbh the song choice I feel down played what his voice can actually do. It’s there you can hear it. I’m glad Blake turned!" Another user commented, "I know why they didn't turn just from the clip. Haven't seen this epi yet. Kason is going to do great. He doesn't look over 25. Good coaching will help a lot. 🌟" Meanwhile another user praised, "Blake's the GOAT for real." Another user added, "I think the other judges missed the boat on this guy.
