'Black-ish' Season 7 Episode 6: Will Junior propose to Olivia? Upset fans say he 'ain't ready at all'
Junior has had a new girlfriend since the Season 6 finale. Recently upped to more prominence on the show, Junior's love life has received quite the attention this season. But even with his girlfriend Olivia's crash course on Junior's family, aka the Johnsons, it looks like there is no right time for the young college kid to propose to her.
Especially when it comes to fans of the episode, who nearly lost it when Junior, lovesick and hopelessly into Olivia, almost proposed to her in the most recent episode 6. Titled 'Our Wedding Dre', the episode goes through a bunch of crises for the Johnsons. "Dre's intimate wedding plans for Pops and Ruby go awry when Pops' brother, Uncle Norman, shows up unexpectedly for the festivities; Ruby refuses Bow's offer to help with preparations."
In short, just another day in the life of the Johnsons. But even with uncle Norman's presence spurring menace and chaos in the house, it is Junior's little stunt that had fans worried. It's not like they don't like Olivia, but she sure has a long way to go when it comes to being a part of the family. At least in the fans' eyes.
Speaking about the way Junior and Olivia's relationship escalated and how she's actually with the Johnsons on the show's current timeline, showrunner Courtney Lilly told EW “Similar to the way the 'Cosby Show' had Sandra and Elvin, with Elvin as an outsider who is able to kind of like hold the mirror up to the family, and show them what they take for granted."
"We wanted to inject this series with somebody and not just to create new storylines, preserve things, and do all that kind of stuff, but really examine what it's like for this family when there's a new person in it."
However, it looks like for fans, Olivia has a long way to go because they couldn't be more thrilled that at the wedding, Dre was able to stop Junior right in time before proposing. Hopelessly in love, or call it just wedding feels, Junior was ready to pop the question.
His pops in turn, however, reminded him "If you take anything from your grandparents' love you don't have to rush into anything. You don't have to rush love." That won over fans because they couldn't stop touting the man for not letting Junior make this early mistake of sorts.
Taking it to Twitter, right when it was hinted that Junior might do it, a fan wrote: "If Junior proposes to Olivia I will faint in my living room." But things became alright soon. The moment Dre butted into Junior's decision, fans tweeted "Yes, Dre, intercept this. Junior ain't ready. At all."
Other cheers for Dre: "Glad Dre stopped Junior"; "Dre's right Junior, slow the heck down!"; and "Dre with the perfect save." Some even noted: "Thank god Dre stop Junior. I thought he was going pop the Question to Olivia. He should wait a while before popping the question."'

But was it really a nice save? Or will Junior propose but just not at Pops and Ruby's wedding? If Lily's words are to be considered, she has big plans for the young couple. The way Olivia's arc has been built up, she is adjusting and accommodating the Johnsons more and more each other, and it works the other way round too.
It has been a constant give and take process with some ups and downs for sure, but maybe Junior is done popping the question, only for now. There's a high chance the end of Season 7 might finally see him doing that.
'Black-ish' Season 7 airs on Wednesdays at 9.30 pm on ABC.
