Who is Bindi Irwin?
Born in Buderim, Queensland, she is the oldest daughter of Steve and Terri Irwin, both of whom are wildlife conservationists and television personalities. She was named after her father's favorite crocodile at the Australian Zoo and her middle name, Sue is an ode the family dog that passed away in her sleep in 2004 after suffering from cancer.
She is no stranger to being on television, seeing that she has been appearing on shows alongside her parents since the age of 2, such as 'The Crocodile Hunter Diaries,' and 'The Wiggles: Wiggly Safari,' a 2002 film. Irwin was homeschooled and later enrolled at TAFE Queensland East Coast. She has a certification in Business and Tourism respectively.
She has worked on a number of shows growing up, including a 26-part wildlife documentary kids show called 'Bindi the Jungle Girl.' Her late father even stated that he wanted "to be a co-star" to his daughter. She also went on to compete in season 21 of 'Dancing with the Stars,' alongside 5-time champion choreographer Derek Hough.
She was an absolute fan favorite and the duo won the season. Business Insider reported that there were legal issues regarding the $360,000 she won for appearing and winning the show. This was because a minor's contract had to be reviewed by a judge and signed by the parents.
Since Bindi was only 17 when she appeared on the show, her mother did the needful. But seeing that her father was no more, his absence of signature caused a bit of a stir, legally. However, the issue was ultimately sorted out and resolved and Bindi received her prize money.
What is her net worth?
Bindi was drawing a base salary of $150,000 for appearing on season 21 of 'Dancing with the Stars'. Having featured on all 11 weeks, she made a total of $360,000. She also went on to guest judge season 16 of the Australian version of the show. This and her other money-making gigs have earned her a sizeable fortune.
Apart from hosting her show 'Crikey! It's the Irwins,' she also works at the Australia Zoo. Irwin's current net worth is $3 million, as reported by Celebrity Net Worth. Irwin has currently committed 10% of her income to Wildlife Warriors, her family's charity foundation.
'Crikey! It's a Baby!' is a one-hour special that streams on Sunday, April 25 on Discovery+.
