'Better Call Saul' Season 5 Episode 9 Preview: Is Kim in danger for carrying the Goodman business forward?
This season of 'Better Call Saul' has been one iconic episode after the other. From giving Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) turned the eponymous Saul Goodman his own Heisenberg moment, to the most unromantic yet touching wedding of Jimmy and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) and of course, the latest episode of Jimmy and Mike Ehrmantraut surviving in the neck of the desert - fans have been beyond thrilled with the way we are getting to see the downfall of the idealistic attorney turned amoral lawyer. And as Jimmy continues to advocate for Lalo Salamanco's freedom, this time his misadventures get him noticed by the authorities when he deposits Lalo's bail money - all in hard cash. And that, along with what the official AMC synopsis for Season 5's Episode 9, makes us consider Kim will be finishing the job that Saul had started. But, at what cost?
In the official promo released by AMC, we see Jimmy clad in a loose tee shirt and cargo shorts, walking into a bank with the bags full of money he acquired from the Salamanca twins in the previous episode. A shocked bank executive asks him if he actually wants to deposit $7,000,000 in cash and Jimmy very nonchalantly answers in the affirmative. The next moment there are people in suits, presumably detectives, who have possibly come to ask him of the heavy sum of money and are going to dig into the matter deeper. Considering it is cartel money and Salamanca is a drug lord we can all imagine how that's going to pan out.

At one point in the promo, a male voice can be heard saying in the background "Looks like you might have to change your name again," as a panicked Jimmy, still red and sunburnt from his venture in the desert runs around from courtroom to courtroom. Add to that the official synopsis that teases: "In the wake of Jimmy's traumatic misadventure, Kim takes stock of what is important," and we know Mrs Wexler/McGill/Goodman will have this sh*t handled. In the previous episode we saw Kim (Rhea Seehorn) step up her game and pay Lalo (Tony Dalton) a visit in prison to confront him about Jimmy's whereabouts so now, with added spousal privilege, there's no way she's going to let anyone mess around with her man. At the same time, with this being the penultimate episode of this season and the fact that Kim isn't exactly a part of Jimmy's world in the future, it does give off worries that something bad might happen to her. This is cartels and drug wars after all and with Kim venturing into such dangerous territory, one can never be too sure.
And while we're pumped for some much needed juicy Kim kicking-ass action, the synopsis also teases "Jimmy attempts to return to business as usual, but it's more difficult than anticipated," explaining the frenzied, panic struck state that Jimmy seems to be swirling in the trailer. Jimmy is still clearly traumatized from the experience, but it looks like he might not get the needed time to recuperate as "Gus and Mike set a plan in motion." So maybe it was Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) and Mike's (Jonathan Banks) plan all along to send the cops the bank's way to get Lalo in deeper trouble. Regardless, things don't really look great for Jimmy and in Kim, we shall rest our faith and hope she comes out of this unharmed.
'Better Call Saul' Season 5 airs on Mondays at 9 pm only on AMC.
