'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 7 sneak peek brings Roy, Rene and Dinah to Lian Yu, creates confusion about the episode's timeline

Considering Roy, Rene, and Dinah are clearly coming from Star City, it would appear this episode is set in the present day. However, we also know that two previously deceased characters, Lao Fei and Edward Fyers will be returning in the episode.

The CW's No1 superhero show 'Arrow' is almost at its end and the whole gang is getting together for Season 8 Episode 7 'Purgatory', the last episode of the show before the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover begins. In what will effectively be the last proper 'Arrow' episode, Oliver Queen / Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), John Diggle / Spartan (David Ramsey), Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Connor Hawke (Joseph David-Jones), Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara), and William Clayton (Ben Lewis) are now on Lian Yu and they've got more allies coming in.

A sneak peek for the episode released by The CW on December 3 shows Rene Ramirez / Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and Roy Harper / Arsenal (Colton Haynes) coming to Lian Yu in a plane piloted by Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). They're bringing supplies for the team on the ground and there's some nice back-and-forth between Roy and Rene but the light mood is cut short by a Surface-to-Air Missile being launched at them.

The clip ends with the plane crashing and Diggle saying that "They're not gonna make it" but from the pictures for the episode, we already know that they will survive the crash. What we're yet to figure out is what point in the timeline this episode is set in.

Considering Roy, Rene, and Dinah are clearly coming from Star City, it would appear this episode is set in the present day. However, we also know that two previously deceased characters, Lao Fei (Byron Mann) and Edward Fyers (Sebastian Dunn) will be returning in the episode.

Based on the promotional stills, it seemed as if the episode may be set in the past with Team Arrow time-traveling to before Oliver's first arrival on the island. However, now that we've seen the sneak peek clip, things just got a whole lot more confusing.

'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 7 'Purgatory' will be airing on The CW on December 3 at 9 pm ET.
