"Justin's been working on his new record for the last six months," an insider told the outlet. "Scooter and SB Projects have not set up one session or done one thing for this record, the source said, adding that the Peaches singer's 'relationship with Scooter has run its course."
Bieber and Braun's representatives have since rejected rumors of a separation, but PEOPLE says that while being "still managed" by Braun, the "Baby" singer is now writing new music independently for the first time in 16 years.
