'Andor': From Diego Luna to Forest Whitaker, here's a look at all cast members of 'Star Wars' thriller
'Andor' is one of the major shows set to drop in September. The Disney+ show labeled as one of the tense spy-thrillers follows the adventures of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) during the rise of the Rebellion between the events of 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'A New Hope'. The character was first introduced in 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' which revealed how the Rebellion got their hands on the Death Star plans in 'A New Hope.
The official synopsis reads, "The Andor series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero." One of the major talking points of the series is the ensemble cast they boast of that sees the likes of Forest Whitaker and Stellan Skarsgard play pivotal roles. Diego Luna as Cassian Andor
Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor, the rebel intelligence officer who served the rebellion and eventually laid down his life in an attempt to send across the Death Star plans to help defeat the Empire. Luna is best known for his role as drug trafficker Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in the first two seasons of 'Narcos: Mexico'. The 42-year-old also had starring roles in 'A Rainy Day in New York' and 'The Terminal'. He also lent his voice in 'Maya and the Three' and 'DC League of Super-Pets'.
Forest Whitaker reprises his role as Saw Gerrera
Whitaker returns as Saw Gerrara, a veteran of the Clone Wars and the leader of a militant group, the Partisans. The 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' star is a decorated Hollywood star with some extensive work in the industry. The Academy Award winner's best work includes 'Black Panther'. 'The Last King of Scotland' and 'Godfather of Harlem'.
Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma
The Irish-Aussie actress made the character Mon Mothma her own. She portrayed the character in 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'Rogue One', and as well as lent her voice as the character in 'Star Wars Rebels'. She reprises her role in 'Andor' and also starred in the second and third movies of the 'Matrix' trilogy.
Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael
Not much is known about Stellan Skarsgard's Luthan Rael, but fans do remember him mentioned in the subtitles for the first Andor trailer. Skarsgard is another Hollywood veteran with some exceptional work to his name. Some of his best works include 'The Hunt for Red October', 'Good Will Hunting', 'Ronin', and 'King Arthur'.
Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen
The '6 Underground' star plays Bix Caleen in the series. Arjona is also known for he supporting roles in 'Pacific Rim: Uprising' and 'Morbius'. Her role in 'Emerald City' earned rave reviews and further catapulted her career.
Other cast
Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Fiona Shaw, Anton Lesser, Kathryn Hunter, Robert Emms, David Hayman, Alex Ferns, Clemens Schick, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach round up the rest of the cast.
