It was one dream start for Grant Knoche who represented Texas in the 'American Song Contest'. His performance for 'Mr Independent' sent fans on social media in a tizzy, a sentiment that host Snoop Dogg echoed. The track has the same name as that of Kelly Clarkson's 'Mr Independent' and even she felt Knoche dished out a slick performance. Fans on Twitter felt they had a winner already.

'American Song Contest' features musicians from every state in the US pitting them against each other with one of the contestants making the semifinals by the end of the episode. This week's contestants include — Jewel (Alaska)
Riker Lynch (Colorado), Nitro Nitra (Delaware), Ale Zabala (Florida), Brittany Pfantz (Louisiana), Brooke Alexx (New Jersey), Sabyu (Northern Mariana Islands), Jesse LeProtti (South Carolina), Judd Hoos (South Dakota), and Tyler Braden (Tennessee).
