'American Rust' Season 2: Will Showtime drama be renewed? Here's everything we know
'American Rust' finally came to an end. The Showtime drama based on Philipp Meyer's novel involves a murder in a small town, but the episode sheds light on the multiple themes involved. The tonality was quite similar to 'Mare of Easttown' and there were ample comparisons the audience drew. Jeff Daniels stars as Del Harris, the chief of police of a Rust Belt town, Buell in Pennsylvania. When the woman he loves (Maura Tierney) son is accused of murder, he quickly becomes compromised as the truth begins to unravel.
Over the course of the season, there are multiple twists that suggest that nothing about the case is as straightforward as it appears. And the end leaves the door open for a potential sequel that hasn't been greenlit yet. With season 1 now done and dusted, we take a look at the future of the show.
